Terry Bowden. Son of Bobby.

Terry was an HC at 26, then at 30 spent one years as an asst coach at Akron, when the HC was Gerry Faust. Kind of full circle. He had an undefeated season at Auburn when they were on probation for the crimes of Pat Dye.

When injuries wrecked the start of the 1998 season, Auburn started 1-5 and Bowden resigned the night before their game against Louisiana Tech. He felt like he was given no backing by the administration and was going to be fired anyway. So he left, suddenly. He'd be caught not exactly playing by the rules in recruiting.

He's been a long time staffer at OUr favorite sports entity, ESPN, and a columnist at Yahoo sports, parent company of this site.

Now he's full circle back at Akron. It hasn't been going so well. 11-25 although the last two years have both been 5-7. Two years ago, they came within a tough call of beating Michigan in Ann Arbor. So the Zips can be dangerous. This is the beginning of his fourth season. And I'm sure he'd love to atone for his father's defeat to OU in the 2001 OB when "Daddy" was made to look more than a little less than competent, losing as a two touchdown favorite.

Oh, I've always felt they'll give OU all we want.

This is their 'bowl'.

I heard today that they beat Pitt last year in Pittsburgh, 21-10. So even though they only had five wins, they did beat a bowl team that was in a BCS conference for all of that era.
