Man, wtf. I am a huge Enes supporter snd have retweeted tons of his hot poltical takes that I can't read and have no idea what he's saying, but apparently he has disgraced his entire family and the country where he was born.

“I warned Enes before but he didn’t stop writing tweets against our president and the Turkish nation. As the Kanter family, we didn’t support his disrespectful sayings. Me and the Kanter family are disowning Enes. We want him to change his surname immediately. We want to say sorry to our president and to the Turkish nation for having a son like that.”

The elder Kanter told the Daily Sabah he hasn’t been able to communicate with Enes since 2015, and he regrets taking him to the US, where his basketball talent was discovered.

“I would not have taken Enes to the U.S. for the basketball camp where his talent was discovered had I known that it would come to this point.”

I mean, wtf. Enes is great. Why would his own dad say this?

So who's the terrorist?

I thought his family was rich af. This is unsettling to a Enes fan like myself. I want to bomb somebody for this. This is ********.

If Enes is a terrorist I need to know ASAP.

Little known fact, Enes IS a terrorist and that's why they wouldn't let him play college basketball. NCAA is way more thorough than INS. OKC in for a big surprise.

Unbelievable if one didn't know better. Well in this case blood is not thicker than water. Hope nothing bad comes out of it for Enes's sake. I mean who the hell would ever want to go back to that dump of a country after living the life in grand ole USA. Wonder if he will apologize for the "betterment" of his family back home?

Disowning his own son in favor of their evil president?

Some cultures are just filled with backward lunatics.
Hmmm...or maybe you don't realize the possible consequences of living in some other countries and disrespecting the powers that be.

The father saying that his son, a public figure, publicly endorsing the man who almost threw the current president out of power is a bad thing, AFTER the president has killed over 2,000 people that "betrayed" him, is not that crazy of a thing to figure out. He very well could be telling the truth and could be genuinely mad about Enes, or he could be just trying to save his family in their current situation, or a combination of both. To be honest I'm totally lost about what is going on in Turkey and I'm american so I don't really give a crap.

Says a lot about your country that you'd disown your own son because he said some negative things about the leadership, and then apologize to said leadership.

Good luck with the rest of your life, Mr Kanter.. I have a feeling Enes is enjoying his.

Pretty obvious what's going on here. The Kanter clan is scared shitless that Ergodan will punish them for Enes' tweets, so trying to keep from getting killed. Kanter was probably repeating stuff his dad told him.

Actually disappointed Knater would be dumb enough to put his family at risk like that. Get everyone into the US - THEN bash away.

That "coup" has to be the most obvious bit of political theater sold on the world stage in a long while.

I guess we need those airbases to bomb ISIS pretty bad.

and even before such a thing called ISIS. :grimace:

I crushed Istanbul two months ago. Partied my *** off. Enes is in the right. That POS Ergodan is trying to turn that place into Saudi Arabia North.

This is exactly my stance also. I love Enes but his last tweet was kinda creepy weird in its effusive praise of Gulen. This whole deal is really strange on multiple levels. Mostly IMO why Enes would so publicly praise Gulen and isolate his family with a lunatic wanna be dictator like Erdogan on a rampage like he has been since the attempted coup.

Agreed. Precisely the time to not proclaim your undying loyalty to Erdogans sworn enemy. I don't care what their family dynamic is, that statement by such a public figure puts Enes entire family at significant risk. As mentioned above, get them all in the US then go at it. Whole fam can join in.

Even if all or ones in America safety could be in question with all of the long arms here from Middle East. Americas doors are wide open on all four points.

I agree completely. If the leader of a sovereign country wants you dead I don't care where you are you can be gotten to.

But it would at least make more sense to me from Enes standpoint. He would feel more free to publicly post such effusive praise of Gulen.

Just think, what if Cal didn't save Enes from the terrorists? The man is a disciple.

DOn't be throwing accusations without facts to back it up. For all we know it could have been a false flag operation to try to put at end to the Gulen movement.
