Joe Rudolph is expected to join Brent Pry's Virginia Tech staff, sources told FootballScoop on Monday. The move could be announced as soon as today.

Rudolph comes from Wisconsin, where he spent seven years as the Badgers' offensive line coach and helped construct some of the most fearsome running games in college football.

Update: Virginia Tech has now announced the move. Rudolph is Virginia Tech's offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Obviously, Franklin didn't have Rudolph's name in his extensive ROLODEX. I get it.

Thats just brutal to watch, particularly Scrugs on that pull. I think we need a new QB because Clifford has been so terrorized by this line that it is irrevocable. Clifford looked like sh*t on Saturday and he deserves blame, can't miss the throws he did, can't turn the ball over. I hate when he just throws the ball out of bounce and doesn't give his guys a chance as the game is slipping away. That said, he has PTSD from his linemen. There just isn't aggression, fundamentals, they are confused by simple stunts, it's a revolving door as to which linemen is going to just totally whiff his block. We all get beat from time to time, but how can a 300 lbs man lined up across from a 260LB man honestly not get a piece of him, even for that of a second. It's perplexing.

I know it sounds crazy, but it’s almost as if certain members of the O-line wanted Clifford to get sacked/pressured.

While I would love that…it isn’t happening. As a Steelers fan, he was an awesome OL coach, and when he left, the OL went to ****. He’s in Denver where his daughter and grandkids live. Unless that changed, he has a real strong reason to stay there.
Not that I think he'd consider coming back to PSU, but there's a good chance that Fangio gets let go in a week or two and Denver may clean house. The Broncos offense hasn't exactly put up great numbers.

they may clean house, but not MM, he'll get to stay whoever the coach is. You got a good one, they last. Ask the Eagles

You’re right, but we still need that level of OL whisperer to kickstart such a significant weakness.

That is a home run hire for Brett. Good for him.

Scruggs last 3-4 games were pretty bad.

It doesn’t matter who the OL coach has been under CJF, they haven’t been able to block a DT/ DE twist since he’s been here
So who does that fall on??

I'm "obviously" not disagreeing with you. But could you explain what Franklin does wrong that could cause the OL to be so bad? I know you understand blocking "schemes" etc, but I honestly don't get what he's telling the OL that can make them such horrible blockers.m Thanks.

You know that’s a head scratching thing. But no matter who the OL coach is, they all have the same problems. T/E stunts for example. Plus their blocking schemes are the same and imo off. The only constant I see is CJF so he must be telling them something

Trautwein to Wisconsin? They’d give the job to Bucky Badger before Trautwein.

agree with that. why would anyone come after a PSU coach involved with our offense? There is no record of facts that would support that. In fact why would team come after any of our coaches? the results don't support us as a good supplier of coaches. this one though is really silly, as our run game and OL have been the point of public criticism all year by numerous expert analysts. why would any team want coaches associated with any part of this?

Interesting. Wisconsin OL coach seems to be a solid decision. Wasn‘t Bowen a good recruiter? I think he was interim OC for the Cotton Bowl.
