On a Tenn. site, some fans were saying our field was very “sandy.” Implying that we added sand to slow them down, etc. Did anyone think our field did not look in good condition? Some said that perhaps that contributes to ankle/leg injuries. They we probably wore specific cleats for the sand. Just curious of Gamecock thoughts.

They simply cannot fathom how they got their asses so thoroughly whipped by a team that couldn't even carry their jocks (or so they were told by everyone, media included). We were better Saturday night. In all facets. Period. They are grasping at straws and latching on to the smallest conspiracy to maintain their unearned air of superiority. That's all this is, mental masturbation for Tenn.

Looked awful on TV. Sandstorm was appropriate. You could see sand flying up on every footstep. Probably not intentional.

I've never really understood these kinds of claims. If a team alters their field in some way to slow one team down, would it not have that effect on both teams? We didn't seem to be having any issues.

The Hooker injury was the only instance on the night where I recall a player losing his footing.

If you watch carefully, you can see the players kick up sand when they run. But our players had to play on that field too. And it didn't appear to me that people were sliding around out there.

It was UT's version of thinking they had arrived (because they beat an un-Bamalike Bama)

That is what they were saying. They felt it was more sand than normal. Sure don’t want artificial turf.

Viles fans were also whining about the officiating. They could call 49,382 straight penalties on Tennessee and none on us and it might make up for all the officiating bullshirt against them over the years.

I didn't have a problem with the sand, I grew up in the low country so there's sandy soil. One other thing I did see on their board was them making fun of our intro. I have to be honest, I love sandstorm, the rally towels, the lights, the fire, and all of that, but I have always felt the whole thing with cocky in the cage is just sort of lame. I really feel like they should do something else or have him enter in another way. I don't see why putting cocky in a small "Jail cell" is cool at all. I am probably in the minority here, though. Did this come from the black magic era of Gamecock football? That might explain the mascot appearing behind the black curtains.

Tennessee has no room to talk about field conditions , reason why neyland is referred to as kneeland, where acls go to die

I believe it is a reference to “2001, A Space Odyssey” where before the curtain is drawn, there is an egg and after the 2001 music starts, the curtains are lowered and we have the advanced species Cocky. SCMF

I agree 100% with you...I think it has always looked cheesy.

It is odd. The only connection I’ve ever been able to make to it is the “Black Magic” days. Is this a magical reveal of Cocky?

No. Have you seen the movie or read the book?

Ha! I've never actually watched the movie! That does make sense though. I still feel like we should do something else. I don't like the "Cocky or the egg" idea.

Do any of you know anything about golf or golf course maintenance? So it’s real simple golf courses depend on their grass whether it’s the greens the fairways or the rough. Putting sand on areas that are worn is very common. By this point in the season I would be shocked if our field was not worn a little with winter coming on. So UT fans can grab all they want because they do the same thing at their field. Has nothing to do with trying to slow someone down. If you slow the other team down, you slow your team down as well. People are fn ignorant

Did anyone from the Tn team inspect or complain during pre-game or the team walkaround?

Vile fans just need some reason to rationalize the thumping they took from..oh, the sucky USC team.

The vile fans whined about the length of the grass at Georgia, and the rain, and the crowd noise. Their fans are insufferable whiners who cannot accept that their team is not the greatest football team to ever set foot on a field. Any time they lose it is because some force beyond their control and not because they got beat.

If field conditions were affecting game play, it would have been noticed and commented on during the game.

Vienna everyone knows you are a troller. Just for your information the field at USC is rated by people in the business as one of the top rated fields in the country. We know you try to make up nonsense anyway you can but I know better. So please go back to that hole called "Clemson".

For your information there is no sand on that field. USC'S field is rated as one of the best in college football.

Troller? You are a funny man. If you have any friends with a HD TV, watch the game again and pay attention to the field. Take off your Garnet glasses beforehand.

I don't think it it was an advantage to either team but I call it like I see it.

I have watched this game and I do not see any sand on that field. Just trying to make up stuff. I have been on that field with a field specialist as well and have been told this is one of the best playing fields in the country

My next door neighbor has a stellar lawn. Whenever he gets a bald patch he spreads loose sand and seed there and waters it. Most likely the grounds crew did the same.

As mentioned re-watch on HD. That field specialist wasn't on the field last week. Even a blind man could see that they top-dressed with a layer of sand. Sure, it was probably in great shape when you were on the field with your "field. specialist".

About 8 seconds in you can clearly see feet are kicking up sand.

It's obvious for all to see there was sand being kicked up. Key word is "obvious." UT clearly didn't think anything of it. Nor did Herbstreit and Fowler who have seen hundreds of college football fields.
