First defensive issues, now offensive issues?

Earlier in the season Illinois brought in extra linemen to dominate PSU's defense and the coaching staff seemed perplexed on how to handle the situation. Yesterday Arkansas used three defensive backs playing the safety position, a situation which seemed to baffle not only our QBs but also the coaching staff! So what is the problem, the defensive coaching or the offensive coaching or both?

So is adjusting to game situations a strategic shortcoming, or a tactical issue! Need inputs.

I believe Arkansas played that defense all year so it wasn't a surprise tactic.

you could also add that Arkansas adjusted their read option in the 2nd half to run the qb more. Countless times t/o the 3rd and 4th q we followed their RB and allowed the qb to run free. This worked in the 1st half but Arkansas adjusted. Our DE's often did not have contain, and we never seemed to adjust

And in the 3rd q and start of the 4th q, down just 1 or 2 scores, we never ran the ball with our RB's despite them getting some nice gains in the 1st half. Thought it would be helpful to run the ball in the 3rd q, run some clock, keep our D off the field, but i didn't happen until the middle of the 4th q

I've watched every psu game this season and attended most. Yesterday, we decided to go out to eat and i followed the game somewhat on my phone - having DVR'd it and watching today, i'm glad i didn't stay home to watch it.

I was most disappointed in our offense - THEIR IS NO FLOW TO OUR OFFENSE - we don't seem to run anything to set anything else up and it's very frustrating to watch....

Couldn’t agree more. The offense has been real problem all year. Having said that I am not in favor of firing Yurcich after one year. God knows the team doesn’t need yet another offensive coordinator to adjust to again next year. Call me blue and white blind, but I think he will have more success next year

Plus didn't Allar come out and say if Yurchich goes, so does he? Or at least it's been heavily implied. If so, all the more reason to push for Allar to start. And time for Jimmy to get his hands off the offense and worry about bad timeouts and fake field goals.
