Jimbo Fisher asked about leaving Texas A&M for LSU.

"I want to be at A&M," he said. "I plan on being at A&M. I ain't going nowhere and don't want to be nowhere else. I love being right here."

I guess we should always trust what a coach says?

Here you go. He said he wants to be here a long time. Not good enough or should he say it every year to make fans happy?:

"A day after inadvertently feeding into speculation about the potential USC opening, Penn State coach James Franklin said Wednesday night that he has “all the plans in the world to be here (in Happy Valley) and to be here for a long time.”"

Because JF wants it both ways. He talks out of one hole about being fiercely loyal, but leaves the door open for leaving so he can say what an honest guy he was and how he was fighting for "PSU" which is partially true. Meanwhile he signed a new 6 year deal 2 years ago....went 4-5, is 6-4 currently, hired a new agent, and is trying to get more money. How is it he cannot fight for facilities behind closed doors while shutting down the rumors like that.....because in the back of his head he needs an out. You don't have to TALK about being fiercely loyal if you are. ACTIONS > WORDS. You certainly don't flirt every GD year with another school and if that is your only leverage to somehow raise money for the program.....you're doing something wrong. The best coaches don't have to play this game because they win titles, produce, and somehow get real leverage. He's a .500 coach the last 2 years.....you are what they numbers say you are.

Maybe I am missing something. That article is from Nov 2018. Or, do you actually believe that because of what he said three years ago, everything has remained the same?

2018 and 2017 and 2015 and.... Don't you think this might get a bit old to him? See the pattern? Perhaps he's sick of answering the question TO THE MEDIA and he's finally trying to put an end to it before it happens again next year. He said the people that are important know the answer, its the jackasses IN THE MEDIA that are constantly stirring 💩 for clicks every time another coaching opportunity arises. He put an end to it 3 other times and it still comes up. From the attached article in my earlier post:

"It’s not the first time Franklin had been faced with this situation, but he had taken a different tact in the past. In 2015, when rumors tied him to the opening at Miami (Fla.), he told reporters at the time, “This is where I want to be.” And in 2017, when Texas A&M was the potential suitor, Penn State’s athletic department released a statement in addition to a tweet by Franklin that reaffirmed his commitment to Penn State. At this point, Clay Helton remains the coach at USC — although most national media believe he’ll be canned if his team loses to a heavily favored Notre Dame this weekend. USC sits at 5-6 and is on the verge of its first losing season in 18 years."

Maybe EVERY YEAR at B1G media day he should come out and say he loves PSU and would never leave. Would that soothe everyone's nerves or is that still not good enough?

Uh no, never good enough. Franklin needs to consult with the PR "experts" on here every time before he addresses the media. You should know that by now. Me? I'm old school and I think actions speak louder than words. Franklin said he wanted the administration, coaches, players and recruits to know what' going on right after the rumors surfaced. Maybe some of the geniuses on here could explain why a junior who de-committed about 9 months ago re-committed a few weeks after the USC rumors came up if Franklin was bailing.

Then the Franklin haters would find something else to ***** about.
yes we would. because this issue is just one of many. actually least of many, because we "haters" (mischaracterization but whatever) would actually like very much for him to go bye bye.

Also, why would he be visiting Birchmeier (a 2023 5 star commit that grew up a PSU fan) for his playoff game in Virginia Friday night? Maybe it was to deliver the news personally that he's taking the University of Washington job after the season. 🤣

As you say, actions speak.

With due respect, this proves absolutely nothing. Even if he is leaning towards leaving, he is simply doing his job in accordance with normal practice.

Yes, deviating from your normal routine would be a great way to prove your commitment and value while negotiating for more money. Selfishly, he needs to keep this 5* prospect interested in the program and him.

I notice CJF uses the word “plans” when referring to his intention to stay at PSU. I guess its a good out if/when plans change.

Again, how do you know he's negotiating for more money?
Again what? That's your rebuttal to me stating that he is simply doing his job for his current employer by visiting prospects? I was speaking broadly about money, but it would be quite naive to think that his new agent is not re-negotiating his current contract.

You seem a good person and a passionate fan. I have no interest in a silly message board fight. I simply do not agree with your posting regarding the 5* prospect. Stay well and hope for the best.

Well, it's not the same man, nor the same circumstances. Sorry he's not saying what you want him to say. I'm confident he is doing what is right for him and for Penn State. He has served with class and honor since he's been here.

His new agent wasn't brought on to fight for PSU facilities. He thinks he's a top 5 coach without actually being one at this point.

Again what? That's your rebuttal to me stating that he is simply doing his job for his current employer by visiting prospects? I was speaking broadly about money, but it would be quite naive to think that his new agent is not re-negotiating his current contract.

I'm not going to fight about this at all. I agree that he's not a top 5 coach at this moment and if he walks, he walks. But, if you listened to the past few press conferences including today, he specifically said that in order to compete at the highest level you have to be committed to compete 365 days not just on Saturdays or during the season and added "so that's where we're at."

Why are no reporters picking this up and asking what that means??? Your answer is right there.

Also, if he was promised things, what he deems critical things, when he last negotiated his contract and they aren't happening or were pulled off the table after the fact what recourse does he have to rectify the situation? Did his last agent not make the demands clear enough? 🤷‍♂️

Jimbo is still being rumored.

He's doubled down yesterday. It doesn’t matter. Rumors are rumors.
“I ain’t goin’ nowhere” is a double negative, suggestin that he’s goin’ somewhere.

As he doesn't seem to be earning the money he is getting now....

Should a 6-4 coach really be a $6 million dollar man?
If you're asking me seriously, no NFL, college coach or CEO of any business should be making that kind of money, but they are.

So maybe he should take a pay cut like Goodell did.

Oh wait!

Who cares what he says or doesn’t say about leaving. Coaches spin their intentions all the time. He is here until he isn’t.
