Maybe we won't need Velus Jones after all. Joshua has received an offer and at least two pundits are calling him to OU.

He is listed as an athlete, but is projected at inside receiver. Scout just jumped him from a 3 star to 4 star after Alabama came calling and Urban Meyer has requested transcripts. From what I read he is already qualified or at least he has very good grades.

We'll see what happens...........

Edit: Jacobs, not Jones......Sorry.

I believe they offered him because he played some quarterback his senior year, and they feel like they could plug him in to run zone read, kind of like Baylor in their bowl win, and let him run the offense. I read one report that said he had a huge run total in one game and averaged over 300 yards on the ground in a six game stretch. I'm guessing he likes OU a lot. So they can use him as a running back, as a slot, but now that we're quarterback poor, could use him this season if an emergency took place.

I sure miss not being able to go to local high school football games like I did in the past. McLain absolutely destroyed my Catoosa team this year. There was one player all the old guy's at the local donut shop was talking about after that contest. Yeah, a bunch of locals that still wear their lettermen jackets that should have been retired 25 pounds (joke) ago, but Jacobs was a described as the best player they had seen in years. I hope we get him................

Excuse me, since he's played QB, would that formation be called a 'mildcat'?:)

It was 455 yards rushing in that one game. He's a link to a TWorld story on him. I would guess that the reason few had heard of him, is that he's the first kid from the Tulsa area that was great, that didn't end up at Jenks, Union or maybe BTW in a while.

So, I guess I got his name wrong? Picked it up from another site...Or maybe had Velus on my mind. I apologize for being old......HA!

It was 9 nine days before he was 'discovered'. I understand how Bama, tOSU and other schools could possibly overlook him. But how could OU not know about him w/ him being in their backyard? OU has just asked him to take an official visit the weekend before NSD. Kind of strange unless he's a plan B or C offer.

I would bet that the OU coaches had knowledge of him, but had targeted players they believed were better. With what I'm reading on OU's 2016 class, I won't be surprised if more "plan B" or "plan C" players get offered.
There is some good talent coming in, but right now much more is needed and time is running out.
Some key players are still considering OU and if they commit, the 2016 class will be fairly good.....plus I have a hunch there could be a surprise or two on signing day in OU's favor.

Ya OU is still in the mix for even a couple of 5-star guys that will announce on signing day. And plenty of other highly rated talent that still can go with OU when it's all said and done. OU needs a very strong finish here. This class currently is the lowest ranked classes of Bob's tenure. This last week or so, it's obvious OU has had to make very late offers to these "plan B" and "plan C" guys you are talking about CT.

I think the offer came because he can help them at quarterback in an emergency. That emergency came about last week.

Well, some folks 'old and decrepit' is others 'sturdy and maintained'.

No, unless that's the ZZ top guitarist Billy Gibbons brother, never heard of him either. :D

My dying, death bed words will be..."I wish I'd have read that!"

Oops, never mind. ZZ top guy has an S on the end of his handle.

It appears the Jones kid is snubbing OU's plan B/C invite for an official vist this weekend. He's headed to Missouri and possibly Bama over the weekend. Looks like Huepel might be getting himself a kid from the Sooner state.
