They deserve the lions share of the credit for last night’s win. Though we were staked to a very early 17-0 lead, we weren’t even halfway through the first quarter. Our offense vanished for most of the rest of the game so the D had to hold A&M’s offense in check for a long time, with no support from the offense.

And they held up. It seemed for the longest time like A&M was on the cusp of taking the lead, but they held up. The only touchdown they allowed in the second half was after they had forced a punt but were then kneecapped by the offense coughing the ball up deep in our own territory.

It was a tense game, and I honestly had a sense of dread just waiting for the defense to cave and let A&M take the lead.

Our offense was going against the 45th best defense in the nation. Our defense was going against the 108th best offense in the nation. It should surprise nobody that they had the better night.

Our offense made them look like the #1 defense most of the night.

It certainly helped that they started three freshmen offensive linemen and subbed in a freshman qb due to injuries.

Clayton White has been mentioned as a candidate for the open Charlotte job.

Hope he has the good sense not to pursue it. Ask Ellis.

Not sure if true, but I read that we rank 2nd in the nation for giving up the fewest explosive plays on defense.
I can see that being true because I can’t really remember seeing us giving up big pass plays only big run plays every now and then
