You guys deserved the win. Great game and if you remember earlier in the week I told you it would be a game of momentum. We had it early...then we mysteriously went away from it primarily because we stopped playing aggressively and you guys did great in making defensive adjustments to take Dobbs out of the game both with his playmaking and mentally. Butch still does not have enough faith in Dobbs to throw downfield and make use of our talented receivers. Your QB is a damn gutsy competitor who made the plays when he had to...and like the old saying, "It aint over till it's over"...he proved that. Best of luck...it was a major win...now lets see what you do moving forward. Enjoyed all of you...take care.

Yep, great, totally exhausting game. I have to admit I thought all was lost at halftime. Big mistake on my part.

You're right, I haven't heard who was OUs MVP, but if it isn't Baker Mayfield, I might turn in my super secret decoder ring...

You come see us now and then, ya hear?

That's one we'll remember for a long time. I didn't like our chances after the 3rd quarter.... I guess that's why we play four. Don't be a stranger around here, and good luck the rest of the way.

It was great having you here this week and talking with you. In the vein of 'losing graciously and winning with humility', I must say I'm not sure we deserved to win...We were outplayed except for the last 9 minutes of the 4th quarter, and I think we got lucky with the zebras missing some calls, particularly a missed offsides on the goal line by us, and the pass interference in the end zone to me was iffy...but I'm only bringing these up because I predicted a UT win and I hate to be wrong.

The visiting Sooners I'm sure enjoyed themselves in Knoxville - it looked like a lot of fun.

question for Jake. No action at all on the Volquest Rivals board. Are all fan comments now only on the pay board? Good luck the rest of the year. Really an unexpected win for OU given how the game started.

Well, FWIW I posted some kind words on the VOL free board.
It may have been overwhelmed when you were there.

I had to work from 14:00 to 22:15; did we have a game today?

But seriously folks, this one kind of took the sting outta the loss to Boise State back in the early aughts for me at least.
Same deal, we played like crap for the first 3 quarters and finally woke up only to come up short that time.

My friend I watch most games with told me on the phone we were getting beat on both lines; I hope the O-line will continue on this path of improvement as the weeks go by...

Mike Stoops has taken a lot of flak around here since returning from his HC job. The job that the defense did, getting it done at halftime, allowed OUr offense to finally figure it out. IMO, Mike deserves a game ball for tonight. It took a long time, but we finally got out of horrible field position. BTW, I thought the UTenn punter was better than excellent. Shep sure had a hard time reading his ball flight. I think three or four hit the ground and cost us maybe 60 yards total of field position. Hard to run your offense when you are huddling in your end zone against that crowd noise.

UT had a quirky little read option that killed us in the first half. It set up everything else. Instead of leaving the outside guy unblocked and reading him, they left the 3-Technique unblock and read the handoff off him. When we finally brought up some secondary support, to help, it left single coverage everywhere and then he hit a couple of passes, including a great throw for the touchdown. I think Butch trusts Dobbs' arm, just not his ability to read our coverage. And Mike can make it pretty confusing for a young quarterback. Even when he can move pretty well.

You came to our board as a guest and provided insights into your team and were a valuable participant here. And I heard that Sooner fans were treated great by Vol fans in Knoxville. I think we need to do this again. I love it when great programs with fans based that take pride in being great hosts, play each other.

UTenn is definitely headed up.

Another welcome surprise was the conservation of timeouts. Used to drive me crazy they way the offensive coaches burned them. More maddening than the "meerkat" offense. But lo and behold, minute and half to go on the final drive and all 3 are left. Looks like this guy Riley might be worth something.

If the Vols can keep their heads up, they have all the elements needed to make noise in conference play. It seems like people are down on the Vol defense and the head coach, but what more do they want? The Vols played with 100% heart. So did OU.

That game was big because OU and UT are big boy teams. Nobody cares if Colorado goes 2OTs with Oregon State.

Jake, I am glad that you posted here. We've had other posters from rival schools that have been fun guys, but you are tops in my book. Go Big Orange!

We all know where we were in 1978 when Ewe took the sails out of Ohio State. Let's do it again.

Sorry, I have to do this. Just want to point out that it was Uwe von Schaumann that kicked the game winning field goal vs. Ohio State, and not a female sheep...I suffer from a spelling and grammar OCD syndrome that makes me post this.

Jake, I've enjoyed your posting over here the past week or so. You are a great Tennessee fan and you are a great poster. You should be damn proud of your team last night. The difference in your teams level of play compared to last season should have you holding your head pretty high. Butch Jones really has your team going in a great direction. I know some OU fans thought this would be an easy win since OU handled your guys pretty easily last year. But that train of thought completely ignored how much your young team has improved and matured in the past year. You should be damn excited about the direction of Tennessee football. You are always welcomed to come over here and post and would love to hear from you from time to time about how your Vols are doing. Last night was a game for the ages. Even while OU still trailed in the 4th I was telling my buddies about how frustrating it was to watch, but at the same time it was a frickin awesome game against two damn solid teams!!! Tennessee has some great things ahead of it with the direction you are going. Hopefully OU and Tennessee will cross paths again in the future in a bowl game, or hopefully in a National Title game!!! That would really be something special!!

Best of luck to you and your team man. Hope to see you around here in the future!!

I am damn glad that Tennessee is not on our schedule next year.

Lol ya no kidding. Another year for that Tennessee team to grow and mature and they are going to be sick!!! Next year they may very well be a Top 10 team, or maybe higher. Heck..wouldn't surprise me if they reach that level by the end of this season.
