Reported to have lymphoma, which just claimed Fred Thompson's life. I don't know Pinkel's age, but he is too young to have to deal with this. Best wishes to him.

I saw him on the SEC channel a couple of weeks ago and he had really aged. I wondered then if it was the stress of the job, a personal family matter or something else. Sorry to hear this news.

Sorry to hear that as well...I just assumed this was fallout from the last couple of weeks on campus.

I'm sure his condition had an influence on his decision to back the players protest. It is really unusual for a college employee making the type of money Pinkel is to join a protest to fire his boss. Now it makes sense. He was leaving anyway.

And the collapse of Mizzou football has begun.....back to being a doormat. Things are destined to decline more in Columbia....good thing they made all the stadium expansions. The place will look even more empty...like the old days.

Some whorn fan fool said that Pinkel was the best Mizzou could get? They are ina big state with two huge cities, with very good HS ball bordering MW and Southeast. I think that is a school that could become a POWER easily.

If Missouri was going to become a power they would have done it by now. It always has been and will continue to be a second tier football school

One committed recruit had already decommitted because of the team's participation in the campus protest. He said he didn't want to go to a school like Missouri that may screw up his football opportunity. Losing the head coach combined with what's happening on campus will definitely be a negative factor to consider for other recruits and the head coach candidates. It could happen at a campus near you.

Living a stress free lifestyle is key to his treatment success. Unfortunately the problems at Mizzou and the rigors and demands of Coaching D1 football would be totally detrimental. Its time to enjoy life, travel, get back to nature and enjoy some fishing and get as far away from Columbia as he can. If I was him I'd make it effective immediately. Mizzou is burning and we all know smoking is bad for your health.

Yep, no one should ever wonder why D-1 coaches get paid so much.

It's just has to be a daunting gig, even in the best of times, especially in the best of times.:D
