I love Clifford's toughness and feel bad for the guy since he has no Off Line and he gets beat up game after game. But he just isn't good enough to take this program anywhere. Too many missed throws, throws that caught but not accurate, and poor decisions. Time for the Drew Allar era to begin as a true frosh. He will take his lumps next year but let's not waste of year of his elig. on the bench. Just suck it up and get the kid some PT. Tell Cliff we love him, but it is time for him to move on.

How do you think Allar will do when he's constantly getting sacked?
Line is bad, that’s for sure. But at the same time, there are plays that could be made that don’t get made at QB. To think that it’s all on the line isn’t accurate.

Well, I like the idea of him hitting receivers, but without an O-line to prevent him from being pummeled, with running backs and receivers who fall down as soon as they're touched, or even breathed on, and with the opposing offense running through arm tackles, how would things be different?

Here’s my thing, I’m certain Allar will come in and JF will have no idea how to handle him. None. He’ll make some Fall statement about a QB competition, then he’ll lean back on comfort of having a “veteran” play at Purdue. We’ll likely be the underdog there. Then he’ll maybe get some snaps against Ohio, certainly not Auburn.
The whole enterprise is stale. It’s just stale, and I don’t know how anyone has any confidence in the offense going forward. Probably have OC number 5 in 6 seasons.

You'll know it is never going to work for allar when Pribula is named starter because he runs the ball better. Franklin likes running QB's.

Remember Ricky Slade and Justin Shorter? #1 RB and 1 #WR recruits in the country.
How‘d that work out for PSU?

Pinning your hopes on any recruit is foolish, but I suppose I can understand it in a way, because hope for the future is all PSU has right now.

I said it in another thread…you could have the greatest HS qb ever coming to PSU next year, if he is getting pressure from the D before he finishes his drop like Clifford was it won’t matter. The Oline is the anchor to this teams progress. If it was a one off I would throw this season aside but I feel like we haven’t had a decent Oline since Franklin is here. If that’s development or recruiting I can’t say.

You sure he will be here next year?

QBs need to learn how to deal with pressure, a baptism by fire. If 3 years of backup experience hasn't prepared Robeson to take a single snap, what's the value of benching Allar? With the portal, you have to play them or lose them.

I didn't say he shouldn't play next year or even be the starter. I said that he won't likely be much more effective than our current QB if he's constantly getting sacked.

I would hope that Allar and his parents have a private meeting with Franklin and tell him that unless he plays the younger Olinemen that have potential to do a better job that Allar will find another team.

Walker and Wallace were TERRIBLE today ALL GAME LONG and both should have sat at least a series to see if Tengwall and Fashanu could have done a better job. What was there to lose, as the UM DE's were basically never blocked?

I am confused about Allar is he not a pocket passer which really isn’t the type of QB that Franklin seems to want or use. Serious question not casting any rocks at the young guy just doesn’t seem to fit our style

Seriously? A recruits parents are supposed to tell Franklin which OLineman to play even though they probably know nothing about them.

Exactly. This team is soft. It’s not the recruiting, it must be the coaching. We are targeting and getting some of the same lineman as the top teams. It is time for a change. Penn State is getting sand kicked in our face. Enough.

Allar is not going to be the savior because we cannot develop talent at QB and O-Line. Also, Allar does not fit the QB profile Franklin likes. Wow has the shine worn off Mike Yurcich.
