Wouldn't that apply to your notion of celebrating Bob Stoops' credibility when it comes to him praising players after wins?? He is simply doing it to boost his players confidence, and there really isn't necessarily any truth to the comments. Right?? This really is just an example of you modifying stories in an attempt to fit them to your little narrative that outcomes on the field ride solely on players making plays or not, and to absolve coaches of any and all responsibility.
It's not about absolving coaches of any responsibility. But you don't get it. It doesn't matter who your coach is, they don't coach perfectly. But that doesn't mean that they get blamed for most of the problems. Players make plays or they don't. I'm sure you think that the coaching is way better than last year. But mostly, it's about players who did two things.
First they made up their minds in the off season to make sure there wasn't a repeat of last year. And second, when they had a truly horrible loss, the players' leadership stepped up and the players followed.
You have a staff led by one of the great coaches ever in college football. But you want to blame him when things don't go the way you expect. A great game plan is a great start. But what was the difference between the first half and the second half against TCU? Same game plan and effort. The players changed. And we almost got beat after a comfortable lead.
What this group has is a confidence born of relying on each other and that having been rewarded over and over. They don't just believe in themselves. They believe in each other. And they have a quarterback who keeps putting the ball on the money. And breaking tackles that it doesn't look like he should break. It sets up everything else.
He is really incredible. And the rest has kind of fallen into place. Mike didn't have the bodies a year ago to do what he wanted to do. This year he does. Now we're not the only team in the country to have this going for that team. I guess we have two undefeateds left and both are at risk this weekend.
So all but two have stumbled. And when they did, it wasn't because their coaches suddenly became incompetent.
You've probably heard this said of great coaches: "He can beat hisn with yourn. And he can beat youn with hisn." The reason that's remarkable is because darn few can, and even they got beat because it's the nature of the game. But coaches recognize that whoever has the best guys, is going to win a huge percentage of the time.
THis season, OU has a better group of players and it's not close.
