I thought there was a thread on this already but I don't see it now.

Anyone else seen the show? It's not bad - almost makes me choke back my dislike of Colorado/ I had almost forgotten Sal Aunese, the baby, 5th down, etc.

Yeah, McCartney was an enigma.

The pressures of winning vs. your own moral compass. Tough deal.
I liked the guy for the most part.
He was an extremely good sport when his starting QB got his daughter preggo and he didn't kill him.

Massive self restraint on his part.

I saw a good part of it. My specific faith preferences are not the same as Bill's. But I really like who he is. And the special put it all out there. He's made considerable sacrifices to basically promote the idea that American men need to step up and be who God intends them to be.

I went to Stand In The Gap I believe in 1997. It was a special event in many ways.

He was at the top of his profession when he stepped down because he thought it was right for his marriage. He confessed twenty years later, an affair he'd had early in his marriage, and it was very tough on him personally. He did it because he thought it was the right thing to do.

I was pleasantly surprised that ESPN treated his faith issues fairly. McCartney is a different guy. I think it's a really good different.

My brothers and I had a brush with McCartney when I was a kid living in Dearborn, Michigan. He was the HC of Divine Child, a high school power-house at the time. Well, we used to shimmy up the incinerator smoke stack to the top of the school gym on summer evenings. He followed us up there one evening and busted us. He never hit us, but he put the fear of God into us.

I have not watched the entire episode yet, but so far I'm very impressed with it. I have a lot of respect for Coach Mac. He did a great job in turning around a program that had fallen on some really tough times. It's always fun listening to Nebraska fans talk about Colorado. For somebody that was never a rival to them, Colorado sure does have an effect on them. I will never forget the sign in Lincoln during that game that said Sal's dead go big red. Still have never understood why Nubby fans think so highly of themselves.

In the episode, one player was talking about a sign he saw at the Nebraska game the season after Sal passed. It read 'Where's Sal Now?'

Classy.

I saw it last week and thought it was very good. Shed a lot of light on the man, his beliefs, deeds and convictions. Much respect for him and I wish him and his family the very best.

I thought it was interesting how he spoke of the beauty of Boulder and the mountains (Flat Irons?) and how it would be more attractive than "Lincoln and Norman" and would bring in the blue chip recruits. He was right as he stockpiled some crazy good talent in Boulder.

I think Bill was a star, keynote speaker for Promise Keepers there for a while.

He could put butts in the seats there too.

He was actually the creator of Promise Keepers. I think I went to three events. Loved the core message.

I enjoyed the ESPN show. Bill did a great job for the Buffalos. He is different but used the Colorado scenery to his advantage.

I spent vacations in Colorado as a teenager and visited Denver many times on business as an adult. It is a state that I could definitely see myself living especially now that I have suddenly become more allergy prone. My doctor told me that Oklahoma is very bad for allergies and Colorado is one of the best places to live for people that suffer from allergies. But I don't know if I could handle the politics and liberal environment. Our retirement vacation plans to Colorado Springs and Vale got side tracked this summer due to my wife's hip replacement surgery, but next summer we will be sightseeing and playing some great golf courses in the Rockies for sure, and scratch off a couple of bucket list items. Definitely a beautiful state and not too far from home.

Oklablablabla, Don't let "politics and a liberal environment" prevent you from living where you want and enjoying life. I am a life-long Democrat and grew up in one of the "reddest" states in the union (Oklahoma) and live in the heart of the conservative south (Georgia), but it doesn't affect how or where I live. In fact, I love Georgia and would be hard-pressed to leave despite the "politics and conservative environment."

Okay, did not want to hijack this thread, so continue with the conversation about CU, Boulder and McCartney.

Schoonerman, I could survive with the Colorado politics. That was just in jest. The real issue is that our son got married a few years ago and we (me and wifey) finally have a daughter in the family. They live right here in Tulsa and are truly our best friends so nothing could drag us away. We waited 42 years to have a girl we could spoil. LOL

That long wait is most likely why you were able to retire. ;)

LOL, it probably helped. It was worth the wait for my wife and I as well as our son. First marriages for both of them but the son was 37 and the daughter in law was only 25. It's been 3 years and there is no signs of grandchildren, which is fine with wifey and me.

Oklabama, I did not know you were in Tulsa! I thought you were in Bama! I'm a Tulsa boy myself! Got a brother and sister there and a bro and sis-in-law in Norman. We went to the Tennessee game this year and we usually get back to Norman for one home game, but doesn't look like we'll make it this year. Anyway, the next time we're in Tulsa, I'll have to look you up!

Please do that, Schoonerman. I love the southeast states and was born in Anniston, AL, lived and worked in Florida and Tennessee and Arkanas while I was with Ford. One of our favorite golfing spots is Reynolds Plantation. Did a lot of business in and around Atlanta. I lived in Houston and traveled to all the major cities but could get lost in Atlanta more than any other and quickly. Finally someone invented the GPS!!

Saw parts of it. Very moving and powerful.
