Jerry Pettibone told me a story about a quality linebacker who couldn't get a high enough score to qualify, in a time when qualifying wasn't that hard. He took the ACT at OU and made a seven. That's 7.
A couple of weeks later, he went to OSU and made a 19. Such improvement. The NCAA quit allowing that a decade or so later. But the guy went to OSU and made all conference.
