It's so bad, that he's taking a leave of absence from coaching. Bill Walton's son Luke, who played at Arizona and is only 35 years old, will take Kerr's place coaching the defending NBA champs until Kerr's back allow him to return.

Other teams in the West just saw a little encouragement. Kerr took a team that hadn't lived up to their "potential" and turned them into the best team in the NBA in one season. No projections about how long until he returns.

My favorite Kerr moment was early last season when a reporter asked if his team was geared to meet or beat his old Bulls single season wins record.

Kerr laughed and said, "it's waaaay early. Let's talk about that later in the season."

It was like, "yeah, we're good, but we're not Jordan's bulls good."

Maybe as good as Jordan's early Bulls teams. It took him a few years to get to the top as the greatest player on a great team. Before that, he was just the greatest player.
