Ted Roof got fired at UCF before the season was over, and now they have hired Alex Grinch. Unbelievable.

Yeah, hard to figure. Going from Ted Roof to Alex Grinch is like giving a death row inmate a choice of electrocution or the gas chamber.

Zac Alley is being mentioned as a candidate for WV Def Coordinator.

Any Coach that hires either must have been told "thanks but no thanks" by everyone else.

I cannot imagine that any Florida school would have too many coaches turning down the chance to live there. I wouldn't live in Florida on a sizeable bet. I'm allergic to hurricanes. But I know many people with winter homes there. So some love it.

Still, why anyone would take OUr defensive coaching leftovers seems more than a little curious. At least the last two.

I can. I have family that lives there and I lived there for about a year in Fernandina Beach back in 85 to 86. I liked Florida a lot better back then as a place to live. Was gonna move back there in a few yrs after I left in 86 but got matried a few yrs later and she didn't want to leave her family here.
I do visit family there now but its gotten so crowded and damn its expensive to live there as well. Now I just prefer quiet country living out in the sticks, less peopley. 🤣

The Gulf side for sure. It's been hurricane alley in the 2000's. However, the Atlantic coast of Florida hasn't been hit much in the 2000's, especially the northern portion of Florida on the Atlantic coast.

You know something might be wrong when the fanbases of UCF's opponents are enthusiastically congratulating them about what a great hire Grinch is.

I suspect the objections you named are every bit as tough as you describe. But I also expect that most people in the coaching profession either deal with that sort of thing all the time, like being crowded. Or the expense. The places that are more expensive usually pay more, in a job that is overpaid to begin with, and the crowded just means there is a lot more talent for your instate school. I understand that in many ways, Florida is a better place to live than it used to be..... except for the increase in hurricane activity
