“Now, ESPN has revealed that Penn State’s top choice is current Boston College athletic director Pat Kraft.”

Pat checks a lot of boxes.

So how does he do regarding coaching hires, fund raising, and athletic academic performance? The latter metric seems less of a factor now it seems with more frequent portal transfers but it SHOULD be important IMHO. Anyone follow Boston College well enough to enlighten to all knowing board?

Hopefully he comes in and cleans some of the deadwood in a bloated athletic dept.
Who specifically would you remove and where would you reassign the duties that employee is assigned to perform? Or are you just making generalizations and allegations without any specific knowledge about what people do and casting dispersions randomly? It’s OK to name names.

The article Bob linked indicated he’s a big football guy and that’s a good thing IMO. Reality is football is most important and should be treated as such. Article also mentions fundraising and On paper, seems like a good fit. BC has ice hockey too which helps.

His time at BC has been fairly consequential, however. Primarily, he made a new head coaching hire for the men’s basketball program, he struck new apparel deals with New Balance and Adidas, he secured plans for a new basketball practice facility, he laid the infrastructure for the NIL era at Boston College, and he at least had begun the search for a new head coach to replace the legend Jerry York. It’s much too early to make final judgments on most of his moves, but they all could end up being significant boosts (or drags) on BC Athletics.

The real question and the only one that matters: Does Kraft make Sandy’s Swimming Hole Priority 1?

If he does get the job it will be interesting to see his experience in building plans. I know there were some upgrades at BC in the year or so he was there but nothing like the athletic master plan he’ll be walking into (assuming it still exists).

I think Sandy needs to stay on a year at significant pay to learn the FNG.

I like the rumored hire and the pressure it puts on Coach James…especially the part involving his OL Coach, complete with questionable ability, being from BC

They could make a soap opera based on PSU.

So Nittwit,

You claim to be an insider. Who on the BOT is steering PSU towards this hire?

I'm sure the facilities master plan is at least 30 days out of date and will need to be redone.

Granted, Neeli will check with us before making a deal, but what are your thoughts on Kraft? I know nothing about him.
Don't count Neeli out in athletics....
She may want to take over on the field to make play by play decisions.
🤷‍♂️

You get to sniff the jock of a few people "who know people" and get on a message board and spout your ****. You know crap. No one in the athletic department of an institution of that size would be posting **** like you do on a message board and risk their six figure job.

Or maybe you are that stupid. Won't be hard to figure out.

I’m not an insider and never claimed to be. I’m not sure why you have that impression. I’m just a fan who follows PSU, does some volunteer work, and am a donor who funds some scholarships. I have some very occasional access to some people as a result of my donations but not more than lots of other people do. The volunteering stuff I’ve done is entirely on the academic side of things and involves helping students and serving on various academic committees with other alumni volunteers. By the way many of these students I’ve tried to help are so bright and high achieving, it inspires me to want to do as much as I can for the university to thank them for the opportunity to work with these great kids. They are much smarter than I was when I was a student - double majors, study abroad, a ton of extracurricular activities, meaningful internship, etc. They're terrific.
