No lingering effects from the concussion so it appears that Baker Mayfield will be at qb on Saturday.

The Great Father did indeed go to OU. And he fathered the Little Red of the Kiowa end zone dance tradition.

The original little Red of the Kiowa toiled until his death to reestablish his idea at OU. President Holloman banished Little Red in 1970 and delighted a handful of activist Indians and old white men. To heck with the rest of us.

Sunburnt...Did you know Phil? If not, it was Your Loss, My Friend...One of a Kind...

Nor did I, Sunburnt...He was a much-loved OU Icon...R.I.P., Little Red...Phil Waller...

When I was a really young 22 or 23, I heard he got plum depressed about losing that gig.
I can't vouch for the validity of it...sounds plausible though.:)

Phil was a little linebacker getting little playing time and asked Coach Wilkinson to approve of his plan. Phil later graduated.

Then some painted up screaming white guy played Little Red. Some Indians rightfully took a dim view. The Comanches, with whom I grew up, frowned on white painted actors playing leading Hollywood Indian roles. Okay for Indians playing obscure Hollywood Indian roles. Why was Chuck Conners selected to play Geronimo? Victor Jory to play a chief in Cheyenne Autumn? Burt Lancaster lead role in Apache? How stupid is that?

Later OU got it right. Indians would play Little Red.

One poll showed that 83% of Oklahoma Indians had no problem with an Indian dancing at OU games. Some thought it cool.

When the NCAA tried to mess with the Florida State Seminoles, the Florida Seminole Nation said,"no way". So too, with the Utes in Utah. The Seminoles and Utes nicknames remained.

The Oklahoma Seminoles defended publicly OU's Little Red. Phil Waller was Kiowa.

Hollywood is weird.

John Wayne playing Genghis Khan?

Stop it!
