For the 2024 class.
He has a rating of 5.9, is 6'2" 195 lbs. and is from Frisco Texas.
OU beat out TCU and Arkansas for him.
OU may have gained leverage to bring in Davon Mitchell a 5-star TE who was Hawkins teammate before moving to California.
With Arnold on board in the 2023 class, Hawkins in the 2024 class and Sperry in the 2025 class, OU looks to be deep at QB as it enters the SEC next year.

Super athletic but possibly a project guy that blossoms after a couple years. He'll recruit hard for the Sooners.

Recalling the hype around his dad makes me feel old.

Hawkins doesn’t merit being a “project guy” from what I’ve read of him.
Lebby aims high in recruiting quarterbacks.

Agree. Check this film out - strong arm (the first throw in the highlights without setting his feet and against his body into the back of the end zone is insane), great ball placement and extremely mobile. This kid seems to have the "it" factor. https://247sports.com/player/michael-hawkins-46116154/

Lebby will never recruit quarterbacks that are "projects".
And what we are seeing now is OU recruiting an elite QB every year, as Arnold, Hawkins and Sperry (2023, 2024, 2025) indicate.
With players coming and going annually via transferring and the NFL, building depth especially at QB is critical.
