These 19 teams all have a realistic shot at getting in the top four:

ACC: Clemson, Florida State
Big Ten: Michigan State, Ohio State, Iowa
Big 12: Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU
Pac-12: Stanford, Utah
SEC: Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M
Independent: Notre Dame
AAC: Houston, Memphis

Temple is undefeated and from the same conference as Memphis and Houston - if they are included, the need to include Temple also. Memphis and Houston play each other before their championship game.

Cal only has one loss, same as Stanford.

Ole Miss has two losses now - I don't think they can get in.

I really don't think we do unless many teams have at least another loss. They would pick all SEC teams with one loss over a one loss OU program. Yes, a little bit of sour grapes there, but first thing we need to do is win out before the real conversation plays out.

I disagree - not sure why you say this. Iowa and Oklahoma State are undefeated, they have every chance. Iowa's remaining schedule is Maryland, Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue, and Nebraska. They don't play Ohio State or either Michigan team in the regular season. All Oklahoma State has to do is keep winning - they have better odds than OU to get to the playoff at this point, and they are at home for Bedlam.

I think Florida has a chance, too - their remaining schedule is not bad with FSU at the end. They could wind up in a rematch vs LSU in the CCG and win. Losing their QB hurts.

Oklahoma State is not going to beat TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma. Iowa? Come on. Assuming they find a way to make it to the championship game undefeated, they will not beat Ohio State or Mich. State. Florida might have the best chance but I don't see them beating Florida State and the SEC championship especially with a new QB.

There is always a chance until the big XII is no longer out there to be grasped. Believe Baylor is unbeatable this year so to end 10-2 would be major accomplishment.

You're probably right. But it would be very interesting if Ole Miss went undefeated in SEC conference games and then won the CCG. Memphis didn't just beat them last week. They kicked their butts.

I disagree with you about Iowa. If they win out, they're in. Just not many of us who believe that will happen. I'd think UHouston or UMemphis would have a chance to be in, if they were undefeated and nobody else was. The Rebels won at Alabama but lost at Memphis. The Tigers have a legit chance to be undefeated. If they are, they do have a chance.

I do believe that OU has a chance to make it, but beating TCU and winning atBaylor and at OSU back to back to back would be a tall order. If the Sooners pull it off, I cannot imagine being left out no matter what happens elsewhere. I don't think many of us think the chances of that are one out of four, or maybe not even one out of ten. But if it happens it would be a pretty solid resume despite the RRR embarrassment.

There are interesting scenarios. I don't think it's out of the question that Michigan State loses another game before they play Ohio State. If they do, and lose to tOSU, then Michigan would go to the CCG by winning out, which would include a home win against the Buckeyes. That would help the XII.

I'm not sold on Stanford or Utah, but if either wins out, they're likely in. Obviously, Utah would be in. The ACC is going to be interesting, and ND would be a pretty good one loss team if they win out. I'd like to see the Irish lose again. But I don't think we'll have much true focus about this until a week before Thanksgiving, most likely. And the scenarios in the Big Ten are so multiple, that their complexities leave a lot left to be decided.

Everybody keeps bashing Ohio State, and then voting them first.

The Big 12 will not be left out this year unless something goes really wrong. Sooners just need to WIN OUT.

Iowa will never get past anyone from the eastern side of the b1g this year or while Ferentz is their coach which suits me just fine. They will probably make it to an upper tier Florida bowl game and get smoked also. Their pillow-soft schedule assures them of this annually.
