Bengals' Golden hired as Notre Dame's new DC
Notre Dame hired Cincinnati Bengals assistant Al Golden as its new defensive coordinator on Wednesday.
Maybe James will listen to us one of these days.
Who says he swung? A miss isn't possible without a swing.
Al just had a disappointment in February with the Bengals. He will feel disappointment in December and January with Notre Lame, yearly.
Good for Golden. He seems like a quality person. But what makes you think he will be a better DC than Diaz? I’m not sure he has ever been a DC, has he? Would it have been nice to have him back at PSU? Sure, but just because he played at PSU doesn’t make him the best candidate for the job. Also, he probably wasn’t a candidate when Franklin hired Diaz because he was knee deep in the NFL season with a playoff team. I’m guessing a coach that listens closely to their fan base is a coach that is a short timer at the position.![]()

Five year OC at UVA.Good for Golden. He seems like a quality person. But what makes you think he will be a better DC than Diaz? I’m not sure he has ever been a DC, has he? My mistake. It does look like he was DC at UVa. My apologies.Correct. OC. Not DC.
Interesting. For those of us not in the know (and too lazy to do a google searchMy guess is that somewhere down the road, Dan Connor is the next DC at PSU.
In some cases the list looks like this:I don't get the love for Golden.
Oh No! What are we going to do without Al Golden!! No program can win without Al Golden!![]()

In some cases the list looks like this:
he's not CJF
he played for Joe
Did he roll up his pants legs? The tie seals it.

Nothing wrong with that.In some cases the list looks like this:

You miss 100% of shots that you don't take.Who says he swung? A miss isn't possible without a swing.
Apparently, he is being credited with improvement in Cincy's D, so don't think he had to.the real question is, why leave the pros to go back to college? Unless you have to? or because ND tripled his salary? I'd guess the later. Have a good year could be HC in college again.
What is your point ?He should have listened to us. Golden is one of us, and he wears a tie.
Your not alone Or the clothing point Why does wearing a tie make a great coach ?I don't get the love for Golden.

And some people are terrible at recognizing sarcasm. Some people refuse to move forward. They look at our best years, which of course were under Joe and they think that any tie back to him(no matter how small) is better than what we have now.
What they fail to accept is that time moves on and change is inevitable.
The “Golden wears a tie” bit was just a cheap laugh, nothing more, no reason whatsoever to make anything of it.Some people refuse to move forward. They look at our best years, which of course were under Joe and they think that any tie back to him(no matter how small) is better than what we have now.

Can't be any worse than the disappointment we all feel when you postAt PSU, Golden could feel disappointment year ‘round. Can’t top that.
