Al just had a disappointment in February with the Bengals. He will feel disappointment in December and January with Notre Lame, yearly.

There's a very long joke, which I'll spare you, with a pointed punchline: "If you try to please everybody, you lose your *ss."

Maybe James will listen to us one of these days.
Good for Golden. He seems like a quality person. But what makes you think he will be a better DC than Diaz? I’m not sure he has ever been a DC, has he? Would it have been nice to have him back at PSU? Sure, but just because he played at PSU doesn’t make him the best candidate for the job. Also, he probably wasn’t a candidate when Franklin hired Diaz because he was knee deep in the NFL season with a playoff team. I’m guessing a coach that listens closely to their fan base is a coach that is a short timer at the position.

My guess is that somewhere down the road, Dan Connor is the next DC at PSU.
Interesting. For those of us not in the know (and too lazy to do a google search 🤪), what/where is Mr. Connor’s current coaching position?

He was hired as an analyst by PSU last week. Has been a high school HC, LB coach at West Chester, and most recently DC at West Chester prior to Franklin bringing him on board.

Clarified for myself: Golden was a DC at UVa and will be the DC at Notre Dame.

the real question is, why leave the pros to go back to college? Unless you have to? or because ND tripled his salary? I'd guess the later. Have a good year could be HC in college again.

Apparently, he is being credited with improvement in Cincy's D, so don't think he had to.

Your not alone Or the clothing point Why does wearing a tie make a great coach ?

Some people refuse to move forward. They look at our best years, which of course were under Joe and they think that any tie back to him(no matter how small) is better than what we have now.

What they fail to accept is that time moves on and change is inevitable.

The “Golden wears a tie” bit was just a cheap laugh, nothing more, no reason whatsoever to make anything of it.
