I am pretty intrigued by this. The scouts work for each team, but what if a scout is hired by another team? Who owns the intellectual property of the scout? How much can the scout disclose to the new team? If he drafted a scouting report for Team A can he then use the same report for Team B? To complicate it more you have the "Moneyball" style of building and scouting for a team. That uses science to basically find better players, and each team, if they use this, probably has a little bit of a different system. What if someone that is intimate with that system goes to another team? How can the first team protect their system? What about the information that they have gathered from their system? Do they have any claim to that as intellectual property?
Someone may know the answers to these things. I took intellectual property in law school, but I think this is a bit above my head. It does intrigue me though.
