The big question for me over the SAE incident

Did they kick those idiots out of school, too? The only thing I saw was that they shut down the fraternity and closed their house. Surely there is a way that they can be expelled, as well???

Good question veritas, but without knowing the Student Code of Conduct, I'm not sure if Boren can expel them. What those students did was disgraceful, and even though there's no law against being an ignorant bigot, it may not have been enough to warrant expulsion. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it if he did.

School is about learning. Learning who you are, and how to cope with your actions.
I say, don't dismiss any of them. They sang a song, plain and simple. I realize it sounds bad me saying "it's just a song" but that's what it was..

Now... Let them return to class, let them sit next to the players they buddy up with on game day (Eric Striker) let THEM explain what was going on on and why they did what they did. Let these kids have to look their black classmates in the eye and face the repercussions of their actions.



Let them learn I say.







Teach them the lesson of being a genuine person in life.
If you can say it, then make sure you can say it loud, jack wagon. Otherwise.... Maybe you shouldn't say it to begin with.

Saw this statistic, which I cannot verify, that shocked me. OU has approximately 27,000 student and less than 5% are black.

I said yesterday that penalizing the entire house without evidence is overkill. Barry agrees.

The kids on the bus were pledges, legacies from what I hear, and did not live in the house. Seems like most of them were from the Dallas area.

OU expelled two of the involved students today, and one of them is from Dallas. OU actually has quite a few students from Texas. Where they are from is irrelevant though.

I don't have a link and can't remember which article I saw these figures but Yahoo has posted an article concerning the expulsion of two students that says there are approximately 1,400 black student at OU.
