Sirius XM Sattelite radio.

For a year it's $99.00

So, basically it's 10. Bucks a month.

Just curious, is it worth it? Seems pretty cheap to me.

Satellite radio sucks, Kev. Save your money.

Had it and got rid of it. Music stations were supposed to just play music. After a while, they started yapping about the history of the band or the songs they were singing so, instead of commercials I was getting talk about the songs being sung between songs. Point was supposed to be no adds or talking. When called about my cancelling and me telling them the reason, they said that more people wanted the history of the music. I said "OK, count me out". That was about 4 years ago.

Sign up for one month then cancel. You'll constantly get 6 months for $30 offers in the mail after that to bring you back.

That's cheap. I have 3 subscriptions and after looking I'm paying $15 a month on each taxes fee's and bs included. I guess it depends on the package, I have all access on one and select on the other two.

You started a thread for this?

Amazes me the amount of information available on Google that people refuse to search for.

Pandora is $6/month and it plays everything I like because I programmed it. We also have Amazon Prime which includes Amazon Music, so I can listen to any new album any time I want for no additional cost. Combined that's like $160/year and it includes Amazon Prime which has 20 other features.

I think its pretty good actually. Hardly ever listen to local Lexington radio because of the commercials. Not sure what satellite radio the earlier guy was listening to, but music channels play mostly music. Hardly any talk.

I signed up about 6 months ago on a deal they had, 6 months for $30. I think I am going to keep it. My local ESPN radio affiliate is crap - goes in and out. Also, listening to Howard Stern again for the first time in 15 or so years has been great. Didn't realize how much I missed that show.
Music-wise - I find the few stations that I listen to (Sirius XMU & Backspin mostly) are very repetitive.

The earlier guy, (Me) was listening to Sirius 80's music and the MTV VJ's were talking a lot about the music and giving background information. It was supposed to be straight up music with no interruptions but that was not the case and this was everyday so, I cancelled it. That was not what I was paying for. Now, that was about 4 or 5 years ago so, they may have changed the format.

Satellite radio is a corporate plot. The US used to have variety. Each region had its own radio stations, its own stores, its own restaurants. Now everything's the same everywhere. It destroys creativity by turning everyone into mind numb robots. I'm not paying to be a mind numbed robot.

Radio like chicks should be free. Satellite radio is a pimp.

Agreed. And if there is an advertisement it's short......in which case I turn to any of the other 12 million channels. I have it and it's good, but I can understand other responses on it. It's like satellite TV in a few respects. You pay for access to 12 million channels, but in the end you really only use about 10-12.

Just my two cents.

I have Sirius XM, and don't know what I'd do without it. I have been driving a rental for two weeks after I wrecked my truck, and local radio sucks. I mean, really, its awful. Same **** every day. I'm so over it.

I just need my XM radio back. :(

I pay for it to listen to Howard but don't find much use for the rest. I'll catch an NFL game while I'm traveling on occasion.

College Sports radio, Mad Dog radio and 80's on 8 make it worth it for those three alone. Stern is an added bonus but I listen to him less and less.

If you're in your car a lot or like to go on several road trips a year it can be worth while. When you go to order, realize that you should hardball negotiate. They have several layers of chump pricing before you get to the bottom deal.

Haggle them down. They are desperate for 6-month accounts that ou should be able to get for as low as $4/month depending on which slightly above minimum wage CS rep is on the other end of the phone.

I think it's worth it for the talk radio. All the sports channels, good business/conservative talk radio, and a plethora of great stand-up comedy stations. If you're using it for the music, I'm not sure it's worth it.

Wait.. 9 total? That's a new low. I'll have to remember that next time.

Seriously I've said "well my buddy got it for 4 bucks a month, sooooo" and they fold instantly.

They usually give me 5 months for about $25, I just call them up and negotiate before the 5 months are up. I think full freight on that stuff with taxes, royalty music charges, etc is about $22 a month. No way it's worth that, but I'll pay 5-6 a month for it.

And if you do not have it, you a poor.
