5. Apple Pie

Those are some of my favorites, but I haven't exhausted the list of pies I like.

Out of the blue my wife decided this past Thanksgiving to make a butterscotch pie instead of my beloved pumpkin pie. And, well, it was so good that I asked her to make it again for Christmas. I highly recommend...

Strawberry Rhubarb

a very popular pie, but one I'm not a fan of. I don't really like strawberries, so this pie doesn't do much for me.

Out of the blue my wife decided this past Thanksgiving to make a butterscotch pie instead of my beloved pumpkin pie. And, well, it was so good that I asked her to make it again for Christmas. I highly recommend...

Hmm, I've never had a butterscotch pie (that I recall), and I have a weakness for pies, so there aren't a lot that I haven't sampled at some point. I'll have to look up a recipe for that. Or, if you would be so kind, ask your wife for the recipe she used, and post it as a reply.

Egg Custard

another good one. I haven't had an egg custard pie is quite a few years, so I'll try to remember to put it on my list to make in the coming year.

An excellent pie. If you have your grandmother's recipe, you should be able to whip one up this summer, as there are wild elderberries growing all around Chadds Ford.

another great pie. The best key lime pie I've ever had (that I can recall) was in a place on Sanibel Island, FL, which is famous for their key lime pies.

hmm, it's been years since I've had a blackberry pie. It's so easy to get the main ingredients for some of my other favorite pies, whereas picking blackberries can be a PITA with the thorns, that I've probably overlooked this pie for too long. I'll have to remember to put it on my list to either try or make this year.

My wife makes a great blackberry pie. We get berries from a local farmers market and she combines that with canned blackberry pie filling. The combination works very well.

She uses the Smitten Kitchen recipe. It’s fantastic.
