We will be on display for all to see this weekend

It makes me cringe to think that we are going to be made a spectacle on ESPN this weekend, serving no purpose other than boosting UT's playoff hopes. Beamer said we struggled with UF running more tempo than we were expecting. Well, guess what UT does better than anyone? Tempo. Fowler and Herbstreit are calling the game, so it's gonna be a 3 hour love fest for UT. This game is being put out there to boost UT's playoff chances. They will be hyping up Hooker (for Heisman) and Hyatt all night. Of course, they have to at least pretend to be unbiased, so they'll throw in a comment here and there about Beamer obviously being the right man for the job here and that growing pains are to be expected. "When you talk to folks inside the program, they all tell you the same thing 'There's no doubt Beamer's the guy'". Of course, as they are saying that, Hooker tosses a 75 yard TD and they add "...but Hooker is the guy tonight!" The last thing we need is anyone seeing this game. Least of all, any recruits.

Right on target! When recruits see our offense they will be shaking their heads with eyes rolling and puzzled looks on their faces. Status quo and hope for the best is not an option!

We can pray for technical difficulties that prevents the game from being broadcast.

“3-hour love fest for UT”

Wow, the opposite could not be more true. These are Blue State guys working for a Blue State network, the LAST thing you will hear from them is any promotion for UT to be in the playoffs or for Hooker to win the Heisman. Remember, these are the same guys on the same network who openly politicked for Woodson over Manning for the Heisman in 1997 and were successful. Nothing has changed, their personal and employment biases are as anti-UT and SEC fatigue as you can possible find. TCU, SoCal, Clemson/UNC winner, and OHSt/Mich loser will all be pushed ahead of UT, despite facts, records, and stats.

Wow! So Viles are as crazy as the hand-wringers on this board!

Might want to lay off the French's mustard before posting, Jethro. Peace out

If you are this fragile and whine constantly like this 24/7 in real life, you'll never find a husband.

Yeah, but they’ll play the part while they are broadcasting a Vols game. Mark my words.

Then why the hell did he move to Tennessee? I know he isn't welcome back in Columbus....or wasn't for the longest time.
I suspect that had a lot to do with the advantages living in TN offered, low cost of living, no state income tax, etc., plus middle Tn is a really nice area. Currently though I think he also has a home in Cincy as one of his sons plays for UC.

His son plays for St. Xavier High School. It was the 'advantages" so much as that he said something about TOSU that royally pissed off the fans.....Earl Bruce came down on him hard during his sports broadcasts during the late 1990's. Herbstreit was basically "persona non grata" in Ohio even though he grew up in Centerville (suburb of Dayton) and played for the high school there.

Nashville needs a palm tree lined boulevard so all the celebrities who have moved there in the past 4 years feel more at home.
They can kick rocks for all I care.

Yeah, I wasn't saying he left Columbus, OH to move to TN because of the advantages of living in TN, but rather that when he made the decision to leave Columbus, I am sure he did his due diligence and researched places where he might want to relocate his family, and ultimately selected the Nashville area, as I believe he lives in the Franklin area.

Boy, were we ever on display, but not in the way anyone thought.

By their own words, it's not how ESPN, SEC Nation or anyone else saw the game playing out. They likely had to throw out pre-written notes praising the performances of Hooker and Hyatt and shoveling dirt on our offense.

No state income tax. Simple. The state is run in a fantastic manner and a great place to live. Why not ?

True....they are one of 9 who do not. But they make it up in their sales tax and property tax. Alaska and Wyoming are the only really low "tax impact" states....the impact numbers also figure in many state and local fees that aren't income, sales or property taxes.

After surfing the interweb, what I find exciting is it appears one of the biggest things on display was the atmosphere and fan support here. The way this is playing out, I gotta think this one game and the "display" could very well be one of the greatest things to happen to us from a recruiting standpoint. We just generated a ton of interest in this place based on WB, the light show and the crowd alone... not to mention the game itself. I know this, if I'm a junior in high school and USC wasn't on my radar and I watched that game, they are now.

9.25 % sales tax, not a big deal compared to what 7% in SC? I will take that any day over a 6% income tax. Tn has no property tax on personal property (cars, boats, golf carts, 4 wheelers for gosh sakes) like SC. Gas is usually a dime or so higher in Tn, but lately gas has been same or as cheap. Property taxes in SC are as high. I was born raised in SC…love my state. Lived in TN for 23 years. Own houses in both states. Trust me, I am not trying to sell TN cause I don’t want people moving there, but it’s not close.

Oh, I don't defend SCs tax system....the sales tax system in SC is screwed up. All I am saying is that all states create revenue in one form or another....whether it be an individual income tax, property tax (real and/or personal), sales tax (on whichever goods you choose), gasoline taxes, insurance taxes, documentary stamp taxes, hospitality taxes (not to even get into a plethora of corporate and industry taxes), etc., etc. as well as other fees.

I have defended quite a few clients with counties overreaching on the sales tax....so I understand.

Yes, Tennessee has the second lowest overall tax burden in the nation. That factors in property tax, income tax, sales tax.
