Will a school come after Bob Stoops that could make him do a double take

There may be one, IMO. This school is in one of the richest recruiting areas of the country. In a conference that is competitive yet is winnable. A school that has a much easier path to a national championship. Great facilities and tradition. Great financial package available. Wonderful place to live and enjoy the off season. A school in need of a winning coach like Stoops.

That school is Florida State if Jimbo Fisher goes to LSU.

Except for not wanting to leave OU, and I don't think he does....I think Bob will retire at OU, why do you think the Florida State job wouldn't be a great fit for Bob? Or, are you saying what I have just stated? He won't ever leave OU to go to another school?

I think if he was going to head out for another job, he would have done so already.

Is Tallahassee a great place to live?
Is it a better recruiting hot bed?
Easier conference, yes.

I agree, JCon. I would be shocked if Bob ever leaves OU, but an serious opportunity for the Florida State job and Bob's turndown should put to rest forever that Bob will try it at other school.

I don't see Bob leaving really for anything. He retooled his staff the last few years and it's obvious this season is a step towards the program getting back to a level it hasn't been at in the last handful of years. I don't see Bob up and leaving what could be at special run in the coming years. Just like years ago when nearly everyone thought he was as good as gone for the Florida job and he said he was too excited about the future of the OU program and he wasn't going anywhere.

I've long thought Bob stays at Norman till his boys graduate High School. At that point he steps down....but, he does own a couple condo's in Fla, so he may keep a house here and spend a lot more time there. It's just hard "for me" to see him at another university.

Exactly. I don't even think he listens to anyone at this point in his life. As someone who moved his family all over "Hell" and half of Georgia, I could give him some counsel about this. Of course, I wouldn't have to; he's smarter than me.

BUT! Let's say he did leave. His mentor would never forgive him for going to FSU. :D

Yes.... 75% of this board want Bob to leave but he isn't going anywhere especially to FSU. Bob is a Sooner for life until the Cowboys job comes open in a few year.

Not for two years, anyway. His kids have been in Norman their whole lives. Drake and Isaac are sophs.

75% want Bob to leave? Ludicrous.
75% wanted change and got it and look where Coach Stoops has the Sooners, on the crux of a Big XII championship and possibility of of playing for the big one.

Just rejoice in it!

I'll take off my OU Helmet and don my Parenting 'Bonnet' to say that the Decision is no longer entirely Bob's to make. I have no doubt that he is the 'Head of His Household', but my observation of him is that he is the kind of Father who takes his Family into consideration in making major life-style changes, and his beautiful wife and children would most definitely have some input into the idea of being uprooted and 'starting over'.

Drake and Isaac seem to be enjoying being Drake and Isaac, rather than simply being Bob's Sons...IMO, they will want to finish what they started...in Norman. When they, and Daughter Stoops speak, I'm guessing Dad and Mom will listen...

Did anyone consider his sons might want to play for OU? That's another five or six years right there. :)

SC Board been debating trying to get Stoops for weeks now. Apparently not the first choice of the fans (the TCU coach is) but any suggesting USC can give him the offer he can't refuse. Makes no sense given the chaos with Haden, the AD and a new President who is not a football fanatic like Boren.

It is well documented that 75% of this board wanted Stoops gone? I'm one of the most consistent die-hard supporters of the coaching staff on this board, and I never saw 75% calling for him to leave. I doubt it was even 1%. Now you can call me an ******* too.

Even putting out a figure of 75% is laughable. I would say somewhere around 10% would be extreme, but maybe not. There is probably 8-9% always wanting a change even in championship seasons. o_O

meh, it's ok. I'd be more disturbed if he agreed with me. That would be scary.

I guess I am missing something here...who posted that it was well documented that 75% of posters wanted Bob gone??

edit - never mind I'm guessing it's some typical comment from the one person I have on ignore.

You are a liar. Period. The worse kind of Sooner fan there is. You're not happy until everyone accepts you as the standard barrier of the Sooner Nation. It'll never happen, no one likes liars.
