none - I think we have been recruiting them for a while. when JF came it was more traditional but has moved on. All of CFB is now academics optional. It is like test optional admissions. This is more than football, it is a broader thing in the US.

I know this to be fact. In Schiano’s first go around at Rutgers, the AD Robert Mulcahy had to make a case to the University President and their main donor Greg Brown (BOG Chairman) every time Schiano wanted to bring in a borderline kid. Kyle Flood was able to bring in several of these kids and he finished 8-5 in his first season playing in the B10. These borderline kids ultimately got Flood fired.

Coach Franklin would be forced to go through the same process at Penn State. He cannot recruit borderline SEC caliber athletes without getting the AD to sell the idea to the President and possibly the BOT. Will not happen without their .

Given the overall decline in academic profile and the lust for diversity, it wouldn’t seem to take much to get all sorts of kids in.
