Alabama’s baseball team finished the regular season with a 29-25 overall record, which includes a 12-17 clip against SEC opponents. The Crimson Tide enter this week’s SEC Tournament as the No. 11 seed, and will face off against No. 6 Georgia in the tournament’s opening round. For Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon, every game is win or go home at this time in the year.

“We’re going with a mindset that our season is over if we don’t win on Tuesday, whether that’s accurate or not,” Bohannon said, via Alabama play-by-play broadcaster Roger Hoover. “We need to have a good week and a long week if we want to play after this SEC Tournament.”

Bohannon has been at Alabama since 2018, and he has led the Crimson Tide to a 134-107 overall record in five seasons. His teams have struggled against SEC opponents during his tenure, with a mere 39-79 mark through five years.

Alabama made it to a regional last season after going 32-26 overall and 12-17 against SEC opponents. Pitcher Dylan Ray caught the league’s attention this season as a freshman, earning Freshman All-SEC honors for his performance.

Bohannon knows Alabama has a tough road ahead to make the NCAA Tournament

There are quite a few teams listed in the latest Field of 64 projections from D1Baseball, but Alabama is not one of them. The Crimson Tide will likely be on the outside looking in when the full tournament field is selected, barring a run this week in the SEC Tournament.

If Alabama defeats Georgia on Tuesday, it will advance to Wednesday and face off against Arkansas, the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Another win would advance Bohannon and Alabama to Thursday, with the semifinals and championship set to take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Making a deep run in the SEC Tournament won’t be easy for Alabama, but Bohannon understands the importance of doing so. If they don’t make a run, the season will be coming to an end in the next couple of days.
