The Alabama Crimson Tide’s star guard, Mark Sears, just eclipse a career milestone in Saturday night’s contest against San Diego State. With under ten minutes ago in the first half, sears eclipsed 1000 points for his career.

Sears, a six-foot-one guard, and native of Alabama has been a key piece of their offense this season. He is the team’s second-leading scorer averaging 14.3 points per game, just behind forward Brandon Miller, who is averaging 19.6 a game. Currently, against San Diego State, Sears has 11 points in the game on 4-6 shooting from the field and 3-4 from beyond the three-point line.

As the Crimson Tide and Jackrabbits wrap up the first half, the contest is much closer than Alabama would like. Alabama leads 42-35 at the half.

Alabama basketball beats South Dakota State 78-65

The Alabama men’s basketball team has now moved to 7-1 (0-0 SEC) after a 78-65 victory over South Dakota State on Saturday night. This is the first time we’ve seen the No. 11 ranked Crimson Tide back on the court since their upset win over top-ranked North Carolina during the Phil Knight Invitational last week.

It was also good to see Alabama back inside Coleman Coliseum after a two-week run on the road. Despite the 13-point win, this won’t be considered the team’s most impressive performance of the season.

There were some great moments early, which included Alabama getting out to a 20-point lead. Unfortunately, that lead dwindled to the point that the Jackrabbits actually held a couple of leads of their own. But in the end, the Crimson Tide were able to pull away late.

Freshman forward Noah Clowney was able to return to the lineup after having to exit early against North Carolina. He looked comfortable too, leading both teams in scoring with 22 points while also putting up nine rebounds, four assists and hitting 5-of-12 from three-point range.
