The Alabama Crimson Tide announced the team will hit the field for the annual A-Day spring game on April 16 at 2 p.m.

The spring game, typically a scripted scrimmage, is the last opportunity for fans to check out the players before fall camp starts. A-Day weekend is also a huge recruiting weekend. The best of the best in the 2023 and 2024 classes will head to Tuscaloosa to see the team and mingle with the coaches.

Alabama and Nick Saban are coming off of a runner-up performance for the national title. As usual, the Crimson Tide is a preseason top-five team for 2022. It’s a unique spring with starting quarterback Bryce Young returning. There won’t be any quarterback drama for Alabama as the Heisman winner gears up for another year of domination in the SEC.

Also returning for Bama is defensive leader, and Young’s fellow Heisman candidate, Will Anderson. Anderson is the only defensive player with odds in Vegas to win the top award in college football in 2022.

Alabama tight end no longer listed on roster

Alabama tight end Caden Clark is no longer on Alabama’s online roster, as first reported by AL.com’s Mike Rodak. He is a former four-star recruit in the On3 consensus but did not see action in his freshman season.

At the time of publication, On3 has not confirmed whether he has entered, or plans to enter, the transfer portal after this development. The 6-foot-4, 258-pound Ohio native chose Alabama over Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State and others during the recruiting process.

With Caden Clark no longer on the Alabama roster, the Crimson Tide retains nine tight ends.  Redshirt senior Cameron Latu had a breakout year on offense after transitioning from linebacker early in his career. Part-time tight end Kendall Randolph remains listed as an offensive line hybrid with two jersey numbers. Two freshmen, including four-star recruit Elijah Brown, are new to the 2022 roster.

On3’s James Fletcher contributed to this report.
