Saban revealed that Bryce Young is nearing “almost seven figures” with his name, image and likeness, making a huge splash before his appearance at SEC Media Days on Wednesday.

Saban told coaches at the Texas High School Coaches Association’s annual convention on Tuesday that his former 5-star quarterback has made deals for almost a million dollars, largely due to the brand of the powerhouse he represents.

“Our quarterback already has approached ungodly numbers,” Saban said. “I’m not going to say what they are. He hasn’t been a starter. If I told you what he’s… it’s almost 7-figures. And it’s like the guy hasn’t even played yet. That’s because of our program.

“We don’t have precedent for how these things are going to affect college football and the players.”

Young, going into his second year at the University of Alabama, was a phenom in his own right in high school. The Mater Dei alum finished with 13,250 passing yards, 152 passing touchdowns, 1,084 rushing yards and 26 more scores.

As a college athlete, however, Young has a much less impressive resume. As Mac Jones’ backup in 2020, he threw just 22 passes. His spring game performance was telling though–the sophomore quarterback passed for 25 completions on 46 attempts for 333 yards with a 59-yard touchdown.

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind Young will be behind the center on game days come August, but he’s still a great test case for what a 5-star QB can earn without starting a game. Companies and brands are gambling big that Young will turn out as good as Tua Tagovailoa or Jones.

How has Bryce Young reached almost seven figures in endorsement deals?

Not every deal has become public, but Young did announce a partnership with CashApp, a very popular quick money transfer app, on July 2nd.

The Cali kid has 17,000 Twitter followers and 84,000 Instagram followers sponsors can take advantage of. So far, Young’s tweeted just one endorsement.

Bryce Young’s endorsement figures stunned Ole Miss head coach and former Alabama assistant Lane Kiffin on Tuesday.

“The guy’s made a million dollars already?” Kiffin said. “That’s good, man. He don’t need to play next year against us, then. I mean, that’s mind-blowing.”

Probably the only college athlete making more than Bryce Young so far is Tennessee State hooper Hercy Miller, son of Master P, who signed a $2 million contract with Web Apps America.

Miami Hurricane players D’Eriq King and Bubba Bolden made headlines in the first few days of the new NIL era when they signed deals with College Hunks Hauling Junk for $20,000 a piece.
