After coming in at No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings after Week 12, Alabama still appears prepared to be on the outside looking in when the final rankings come out Dec. 4. That means Bryce Young has a decision to make: Will he play in a non-CFP bowl game or opt out to prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft?

CBS reporter Jenny Dell asked him that very question, and that answer will come down the road.

“That’s not something I’ve thought about yet,” Young said. “I just try to live in the moment, attack each day, as I’ve been. Right now, we have the 24-hour rule, so I’m just happy we pulled this one out.”

Young had another impressive showing during Saturday’s Iron Bowl victory over Auburn, throwing for 343 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He helped lead the Crimson Tide to a 49-27 win over the Tigers and another 10-win season under Nick Saban.

No matter what his decision is for the bowl game, one thing’s for sure. Saturday marked his last time playing in front of the home fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and he reflected on his journey from a highly ranked recruit from California to Heisman Trophy winner in Tuscaloosa.

“I’m eternally grateful,” Young said. “The fans, me coming from across the country and everyone welcoming me with open arms, the support I get each and every day. We get out here, this environment’s the best environment in college football. Playing under these lights at Bryant-Denny has meant the world to me. I’m forever indebted to Alabama.”

Nick Saban gives opinion on Alabama’s College Football Playoff chances

Many in Tuscaloosa will be thinking there is a path for Alabama to sneak into the College Football Playoff. It’s been a staple for Nick Saban since the CFP’s inception in 2014, only missing one. Now, with some chaos occurring around college football, the slightest chance is there for the Crimson Tide.

CBS sideline reporter Jenny Dell asked Saban if he thought Alabama deserved a chance to compete for a national championship. He said the decision is not up to him but hopes his team gets the opportunity down the road.

“You know, that’s not for me to say,” Saban said. “I love our team, wish we had the opportunity. Hopefully, we’ll get one. We’ll see.”
