Bryce Young updates shoulder injury status ahead of Iron Bowl

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young‘s shoulder injury has limited him at times this year, to the point that the Crimson Tide had really kept him from doing almost any throwing in practices near the midway point of the season.

However, he’s been back in action in games since the Tennessee game on Oct. 15 and Young seems to be doing better of late.

“I’m good. Everyone, again, we have an amazing training staff, coaching staff that manages everything,” Young explained. “Practice-wise, game-wise, do a great job of being on top of things. I owe a ton of that just to the training room, being down there and doing so much to get me back healthy and feeling good.”

Young has not appeared all that limited throwing the football of late. He has thrown for five touchdowns with no interceptions in his last two games, while Alabama has rebounded from a tough stretch with back-to-back wins.

Now the Iron Bowl is looming.

The Alabama superstar expects to be ready to roll against rival Auburn this weekend.

“I feel good,” Young said. “I’m blessed to be in the circumstance that I am, and I’m ready to keep pushing. I feel good now.”

Bryce Young’s shoulder injury seems mostly behind him

While Bryce Young’s shoulder injury doesn’t seem to be bothering the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner quite as much at the moment as it did in the middle of the season, he’s not the only Alabama player dealing with injuries.

Star running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been battling an ankle injury, forcing the Crimson Tide to rely on others for production in the backfield.

Luckily, Jase McClellan has stepped up nicely.

He’s led the team in rushing the past two games, logging 36 carries for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Coach Nick Saban praised McClellan this week, noting everyone else should have expected him to do so.

“Well Jase played well for us last year, Jase was a really good player last year until he got hurt so I haven’t learned anything about him, I’ve always thought he was a really good player” Saban said. “I think you’re all just starting to figure it out.”

Alabama and Auburn will meet for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, with a national broadcast slated for CBS.
