For Bryce Young, being selected first overall in the NFL Draft was the culmination of years and years of hard work. It was, clearly, an incredibly emotional moment for the young and talented quarterback.

After the selection, Young watched video messages from his coach at Alabama, Nick Saban, as well as from his parents. While watching those videos, Young became visibly emotional, tearing up at what they were telling him.

“I couldn’t be happier for you and your family,” Saban told Young. “I know you’ve worked so hard for this. You’ve done a great job for the University of Alabama. You’ve been a great ambassador, a great player, and now you’ve realized your dream of being able to play in the NFL.”

After that, Bryce Young’s parents came on. They spoke about how much they love him, how proud they are of him, and how hard he’s worked to get to this point in his life.

“You’re just someone that I admire,” Young’s father said to him.

Throughout this, Bryce Young became visibly emotional. Tearing up and smiling as his family spoke to him. It then took him a second to collect himself before calling his parents the best.

“For what it’s worth, there was no chance of you guys messing things up,” Bryce Young responded. “Because of how much you guys love me and how much you guys care for me.”

Bryce Young reacted to being selected first overall

After being taken first overall by the Carolina Panthers, Bryce Young spoke to the NFL Network broadcast. There, he spoke about being taken first overall to become the face of a franchise.

“It’s still crazy. It’s a blessing. I’m super grateful to be here. I’m super grateful for the blessings from God for allowing me to be here and for all the people that allowed me to do it. As amazing as this moment is, and I’m going to live in the moment, I can’t wait to get to work tomorrow and start building off of that,” Young said.

“I’m going to give everything to the franchise, to the organization, to the coaches that believed in me. I’m forever indebted in that. So [I’m bringing] everything I have. Preparation, not just on Sundays but throughout the entire week. I’m going to give it my all.”
