Nobody is safe from getting chewed out by Nick Saban. Even Tua Tagovailoa had an earful from the Alabama head coach after throwing the game-winning touchdown pass in the 2018 national championship game. Saban will find a way to get upset and make sure you do everything perfectly.

Everybody has a story as well in getting in trouble with Saban at least once as well. Former defensive lineman Byron Young got to share his on Wednesday when speaking to the media at the NFL combine. Young claims he got in trouble for just doing his job and something defensive line coach Freddie Roach instructed him to do.

“I got in trouble one time for doing exactly what my position coach told me to do,” Young said. “He completely tore into me. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know what to say because that was exactly what my coach had to told me to do. I was just waiting on my coach, waiting for him to say something. He was more scared of Coach Saban than I was. I just had to bite the bullet on that one.”

Young did not give a specific time when this occurred throughout his career. He spent four years in Tuscaloosa and most likely has more stories to share if asked. This one must have stood out to him the most, telling the entire tale with a smile on his face as well.

Byron Young compares Nick Saban to parents

At some point in our lives, our parents yelled at us. Frustration over actions performed by young ones happens. However, if you were to ask Young, he would prefer that chewing compared to the one provided by his head coach.

“That’s a tough one, man,” Young said. “At the point, right now, I would probably say Coach Saban. I’ve been chewed out by my parents for 22 years. They aren’t as intense as doing it when they’re doing it as Coach Saban. My parents don’t curse or anything like that. Coach Saban might give you a barrage of nasty words sometimes.”

Saban getting frustrated is well documented. However, players understand why he acts the way he does and the results are shown on the scoreboard. Perfection is expected out of the greatest of all time, even when you are doing what somebody else told you.
