The Alabama football program suffered a significant blow early in spring ball when talented receiver Jalen Hale went down with a leg knee injury.

The injury sidelined Hale for the rest of the spring and will likely keep him out a significant chunk of the regular season, too. Hale was spotted at Alabama’s spring game on Saturday resting in a chair, legs propped up.

ESPN sideline reporter Molly McGrath provided an update.

“Alabama wide receiver Jalen Hale would have been out there with the ones for A-Day, but he suffered a left leg injury earlier this spring,” McGrath said. “Coach Kalen DeBoer called it significant. You can see he’s wearing a full leg cast and brace to stabilize that leg.”

Hale showed promise a year ago while playing a reserve role at receiver.

He tallied five catches for 148 yards and a touchdown. He recorded catches in four games, including a game against No. 15 Ole Miss, when he had two catches for 63 yards and a score.

McGrath provided a more complete update on his health.

“DeBoer told me he’ll probably miss the majority, if not all of the regular season,” she said. “But he could be available near the end of the year. It’s too soon to tell, but right now it’s not looking good, guys.”

Prior to enrolling at Alabama, Jalen Hale was a four-star prospect and the No. 38 overall player in the country in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 7 receiver in the class and the No. 7 overall player from the state of Texas, hailing from Longview (TX) Longview.

Hale chimed in on his injury shortly after it occurred.

“I’m doing good everyone I’m out the hospital i’m moving around a little bit just waiting on my next process and get to my rehabilitation it wasn’t as bad as it could have been so I’m blessed and thankful for that I will return stronger than ever thanks everyone your support,” Hale tweeted.
