Alabama’s season has been clouded by the incident at least involving former Crimson Tide player Darius Miles. While the team has moved on to postseason play, the next steps of the case have been taken as Miles has officially been indicted in the capital murder of 23-year-old Jamea Harris.

Per the latest from AL.com, a grand jury out of Tuscaloosa met last week in regard to this case. Now, that jury issued indictments against Miles as well and Michael Davis earlier today. Both Miles and Davis still remain in the Tuscaloosa County Jail and continue to be held without bond.

This news was the next step after their preliminary hearing back in February. It’s worth noting that that hearing was where the inclusion of Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley’s names was first noticed, which has led to the increased media coverage and scrutiny around the Tide over the last two weeks.

It’s bizarre that the timing of this ended up lining up perfectly with Alabama’s matchup in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament with Mississippi State. Even so, it’s also almost ironic as the two stories continue to be linked as we come down the stretch of both the season and this troubling case.

Charles Barkley rips Alabama’s handling of Brandon Miller situation

Everyone has an opinion when it comes to the situation involving Brandon Miller down at Alabama. That’s specifically true when it comes to the fact that seemingly no punishment ever came his way. Based on his opinion, Charles Barkley believes that was a mistake on the Crimson Tide’s part.

Barkley spoke about Miller’s circumstances in an interview with AL.com. He said that he believes Miller should have been put in ‘time out’ and that he is lucky that this all took place in the state of Alabama.

“He should have been given a time out to learn decisions have consequences,” Barkley said. “He’s lucky Alabama is behind the times. In forty-nine other states, he probably would have been charged with a crime.”

From there, Barkley says he can tell Miller has been affected by this storyline considering his play as of late. He blew up in the first game after the story came out but, since then, his percentages have dropped to 36.2% from the field and 16.7% from three in the Tide’s last three games. To Chuck, he sees that as the pressure of public opinion weighing on the freshman phenom.

“He came out and had a monster game (against South Carolina) but he hasn’t played well since then. I think the pressure is getting to him,” said Barkley. “Everybody’s talking about (the killing) and he’s got to hear it. The pressure’s only going to get worse. Fans will be on him.”
