Today was a special day for Brian Robinson, the Washington Commander’s rookie running back. After drafting him out of Alabama back in the 2022 NFL Draft, an incident where Robinson was shot back in August had kept him away from the football field to start the season. That was the case until today when he made his pro debut against the Tennessee Titans.

The matchup provided a unique moment as it matched up with another great Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry. After the Titan’s 21-17 win over Washington today, the pair met for an exceptional moment and jersey swap.

Henry got the win and finished with the better performance with 132 total yards and two rushing touchdowns. However, Robinson had a solid first game with a team-high in both carries and rushing yards. Regardless, this was Robinson’s day and sharing this moment with Henry afterwards is yet another example of how deep the Alabama fraternity runs.

Washington Commanders activate Brian Robinson, to make NFL debut Sunday against Tennessee Titans

Brian Robinson Jr. is about to secure his place among the wildest comeback stories in the history of the NFL.

After joining the Washington Commanders via the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Alabama standout had dreams of leading their backfield, and the scuttlebutt out of training camp was that he had a real shot to do so. However, that was all taken away for a moment, when Robinson was shot twice during an armed robbery attempt in August.

However, he shared training videos and was moving around better than anyone could’ve expected in the time afterwards, and now Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has provided a shocking update on the running back.

“Sources: The #Commanders are activating rookie RB Brian Robinson Jr. from the non-football injury list and he’ll play against the #Titans,” tweeted Rapoport. “A remarkable recovery story just gets better.”

As Rapoport stated, it’s an amazing feat that Robinson will be back on the field so soon. Now, he can finally live out his dream of being an NFL running back.

Moreover, the Commanders drafted Robinson with the No. 98 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As a fifth-year senior in 2021, Robinson rushed for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns to help Alabama to the national championship game — an eventual 33-18 loss to Georgia. He also got involved in the passing game, catching 35 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns.

With Robinson unavailable for Washington, the depth chart at running back for the Commanders has been led by Antonio GibsonJ.D. McKissic , and Jonathan Williams. As the former Bama back continues his recovery, he’ll look to ascend up to become the top choice.
