Former NFL safety HaHa Clinton-Dix joining Alabama support staff

Former Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is beginning a new chapter following his retirement from the NFL. According to Alabama beat reporter Mike Rodak, Clinton-Dix will return to the college ranks and join Nick Saban‘s Crimson Tide support staff.

The former Pro Bowl safety played at Alabama from 2011-2013. There, he was a two-time BCS national champion in 2011 and 2013, first-team All-SEC, and consensus All-American. Dix’s first-team all-SEC and consensus All-American accolades came in 2013. He would finish his junior year with 51 tackles and two interceptions. After helping the Crimson Tide cap off the year as national champions, Dix elected to forgo his senior season and opt into the 2014 NFL Draft. He would end up being selected in the first round with the number 21 overall pick by the Green Bay Packers.

The former Alabama safety will join two other former players on their development staff in, nose tackle Josh Chapman and linebacker Denzel Devall. Both shared the field with Dix at one point in time during their tenure with the Crimson Tide. Now all three will share responsibilities on Alabama’s development staff.

Clinton-Dix signs one day contract with the franchise to officially retire from NFL

Former Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix signed a one-day contract with the franchise to officially retire from the National Football League, it was reported on Thursday afternoon by Ari Meirov.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide safety was selected as the No. 21 overall pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 2014 NFL Draft.

As a rookie with the Packers, Clinton-Dix hit the ground running.

He finished his rookie campaign with 92 tackles, six pass deflections, one interception, and one sack in 16 games. He continued to impress the Green Bay coaching staff and had his best NFL season in 2016, earning a Pro-Bowl nod following that year. Clinton-Dix started in all 16 games in 2016 and recorded 80 combined tackles (62 solo), seven pass deflections, a career-high five interceptions.
