Alabama linebacker Shawn Murphy has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Murphy is the latest player to leave Tuscaloosa following the retirement of Nick Saban, spending two seasons with the program.

Murphy got some playing time during his time with the Tide, playing in 18 games. A lot of the action came on special teams though, recording three tackles. A few defensive snaps were sprinkled in there but came during garbage time.

Newly hired head coach Kalen DeBoer had the opportunity to address the team for the first time on Friday night, giving them a glimpse into the future. Unfortunately for Alabama fans, there are still going to be players that decide to leave. One of those will be Murphy as he looks for a fresh start elsewhere.

Murphy played high school football at Manassas (VA) Unity Reed, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 65 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
