Kadyn Proctor is a five-star recruit and one of the best offensive linemen in the Class of 2023. A Des Moines native, he, for a long time, had been committed to Iowa. Then, on the day before National Signing Day, he flipped to Alabama.

This decision led to a ton of backlash from Iowa fans, who directed their frustration at Kadyn Proctor. Now, he’s responded to that backlash.

“It makes me feel bad a little bit, you know, but I can’t tune into that stuff,” Kadyn Proctor said. “It’s just mind-blowing that, you know, 40-year-olds, 50-year-olds, like, just calling me the p-word and saying f-you, you know, I’m gonna go to Hell and stuff like that.”

“It’s just crazy. Crazy to hear. But, I don’t give into that stuff because if they were truly an Iowa fan then they wouldn’t have been talking about that, and they would have been happy for me to be going down to Alabama and representing the State of Alabama.”

Kadyn Proctor is a five-star recruit according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. According to the On3 Consensus, he is the second-ranked offensive tackle and the 12th-ranked player nationally in his class.

His current On3 NIL Valuation is $240,000. That’s 29th among high school athletes, though he is currently outside of the On3 NIL 100. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value, or PAV. The algorithm used by On3 is proprietary, drawing data points from three vital categories. Those categories are performance, influence, and exposure.

What does the Kadyn Proctor signing mean for Alabama?

It was a huge deal for the Alabama Crimson Tide to sign Kadyn Proctor as they put together a stellar class. Andrew Bone of BamaInsider explained.

“Alabama has been viewed as the biggest threat to Iowa from the BamaInisder perspective throughout the course of the last few months. The visit this past weekend solidified the Tide’s position with the elite lineman,” Bone wrote.

“Proctor joins an offensive line class that also features Wilkin Formby, Top 100 offensive tackle, Miles McVay, four-star offensive tackle, Olaus Alinen, four-star offensive lineman and Ryqueze McElderry, four-star offensive guard. Raymond Pulido, three-star offensive tackle quietly decommitted from Alabama last month. He committed to Arizona last week.”
