Alabama quarterback Bryce Young continues to shine as one of the best quarterbacks in college football today. The Crimson Tide quarterback is off to a hot start yet again against Florida. Watch as he connects with tight end Jahleel Billingsley for a touchdown pass.

The Jahleel Billingsley 26-yard touchdown put Alabama up 14-3 in the contest. Alabama currently leads Florida 21-3 with 12:28 left in the 2nd quarter.

Working his way up the depth chart

Jahleel Billingsley, despite the touchdown, had a number of issues with his head coach Nick Saban throughout most of fall camp.

Billingsley tweeted about some issues he had with the depth chart that was released early on in fall camp, putting him behind Cameron Latu and Major Dennison. He also missed some of the beginning parts of fall camp in the Covid-19 protocol.

On Aug. 11, Saban mentioned that Billingsley had to work his way up the depth chart.

“He does have a lot of ability, he can be a positive contributor on the team,” Saban said, “but he’s also got to buy into the principles and values of the team and be a good teammate and do the things that everyone else in the organization does so that he has the respect of his teammates. We’re certainly trying to help him do that, and hopefully, he’ll be back out there with us in a few days. We’ll see how that all develops.”

Saban: Jahleel Billingsley still developing at Alabama

Last season, Billingsley had 18 receptions for 287 yards and three touchdowns for Alabama. Billingsley did not have a reception against Miami, but he did see the field in limited action. Billingsley is a tight end that Saban wants to see do well. If he does, it would help both the player and Alabama tremendously.

“We’re always trying to encourage players to do the right things and do the things they need to do to create value for themselves,” Saban said. “Jahleel and I have talked on multiple occasions because he’s certainly a guy that we want to have success for his own benefit individually as well as for the team. Sometimes when you get a little bit of external encouragement it can be a positive thing for you.”

Now, Jahleel Billingsley is trying his best to move up the depth chart with a touchdown pass.
