Alabama finally found the end zone. It only took 59 minutes 36 seconds.

With 24 seconds remaining in a 10-3 game against Auburn, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young threw a beautiful 28-yard touchdown pass to receiver Ja’Corey Brooks. The game is going into overtime tied 10-10.

The Auburn defense had been stifling prior to the final Alabama drive of regulation. They have sacked Bryce Young seven times and held him under 300 passing yards, an impressive feat against the Heisman Trophy contender.

Alabama is currently operating without running back Brian Robinson, who left the game in the fourth quarter after a lower body injury on a 37-yard run. That was the longest play of the day for either team.

The Tide have not won at Jordan-Hare Stadium since 2015.

If Alabama cannot pull out the win, they will get their second loss of the season. Even if the Tide were to beat Georgia next weekend in the SEC title game, a two-loss team has never made the College Football Playoff.

Iron Bowl starts with scuffle

These two teams do not like each other, as is evidenced by the animosity on display at the start of the game.

On the game’s opening kickoff, the two programs broke out into a fight almost immediately. The first fight of the game featured Will Reichard booting a 63-yard kick for Alabama, and Auburn’s Jarquez Hunter returned it 23 yards to the Auburn 42-yard line. Shortly thereafter, though, Auburn was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty amid the fight, pushing Auburn’s drive back to the Tigers’ own 13-yard line.

Not long after, yet another fight broke out between Alabama and Auburn. This one, however, did not result in a penalty for either side. A number of Alabama players approached the Auburn sideline and started jarring with the players on Auburn’s bench.
