The Alabama football pro day occurred Thursday, with many of the Crimson Tide’s departing players testing in front of NFL coaches and scouts. However, likely top-10 pick and defensive star Will Anderson was not performing at the event and was merely there as a spectator. During the broadcast on SEC Network, Jordan Rodgers caught up with Anderson to ask what he’s doing at the pro day since he’s not actually participating.

Anderson’s answer:

“Yeah, you know, just cheering on my teammates. You know, they put in a whole bunch of hard work leading up to this moment to just showcase their ability, and I just wanted to come out and show my support, but also talk to a few coaches and get some information and stuff like that. You know, just be here for the guys and cheer them on.”

Rodgers then asked Will Anderson what parts of his game he’s been working on this offseason as he transitions to the professional level.

“Yeah, you know, just playing in space, make sure I’m good in my coverages, stuff like that,” responded Anderson. “But also just keep working on my rush. Those are areas I knew for a fact that, you know, I still have to improve on and work on. This whole offseason, that’s what I’m dedicated to doing and focusing on.”

He’s also trying to heal up so he’s at 100% when he starts his NFL career next fall.

“Right now, I’ve just been working out, trying to stay healthy, get my body back right. Diving deep into my playbook, diving deep into myself making sure I’m doing everything the best that I can, so when rookie mini-camp comes, I can be prepared.”

The truth is the future top pick didn’t need to participate today to ensure his draft position. Really, the only way Anderson could significantly alter his draft position is by getting himself hurt or performing really poorly. He’s so highly rated by scouts and draft people already that there’s not much he can do to raise his stock any more. But it is nice to see Will Anderson in attendance and rooting on his former teammates.
