The Arkansas Razorbacks didn’t have to look far for their newest addition. Former Arkansas State defensive lineman Terry Hampton committed to transferring to Fayetteville to join Sam Pittman and the Hogs on Sunday.

Hampton, an El Dorado, Ark., native played four seasons for the Red Wolves before opting to transfer. He had his most productive year in 2020, posting 35 tackles (20 solo) and two sacks. In six games in 2021, Hampton had 11 total tackles. He suffered a season-ending knee injury after those six games.

Coming out of high school, the 6-foot-0, 294-pound defensive tackle was a three-star prospect. He committed to Arkansas State in the class of 2018.

The Razorbacks are down two top defensive linemen after the 2021 season. Tre Williams and John Ridgeway both entered the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hampton announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal on April 15. He received interest from Arkansas, Houston, SMU, Utah State, Oregon State, Western Kentucky, Illinois and Texas Tech before choosing to stay home with the Hogs.

Dallas Cowboys draft Arkansas standout John Ridgeway

The Dallas Cowboys selected former Razorback defensive tackle John Ridgeway in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He started 11 of 12 games in 2021 after transferring from FCS Illinois State — only missing the season opener after undergoing an appendectomy.

Ridgeway had 39 total tackles last season to go with 4.0 tackles for loss and two sacks. Between Illinois State and Arkansas, he totaled 141 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss and three sacks during his four-year career.

Out of high school, Ridgeway was a three-star recruit and the No. 59 prospect in the state of Illinois from the Class of 2017, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
