Arkansas is in its final week of spring practice, with the spring game taking place on Saturday. Sometimes, players can get tired of going up against the same guys on a daily basis, leading to frustration. Well, emotions boiled over in Fayetteville on Tuesday.

An altercation took place, causing two players to get “tangled up” with one another once the whistle was blown. Head coach Sam Pittman commented on the situation, admitting it should have never happened.

There was a talk with the entire team afterward, explaining how the incident was unacceptable. A good reminder heading into an important season for the Razorbacks.

“You don’t ever want anything ever to escalate to that point,” Pittman said. “We had a talk with the team afterward about it — what’s acceptable, what’s not. But the two guys just got tangled up on the sideline and I believe one side thought it was more than that and escalated into something it shouldn’t have. I think our team is a very together team. It was at the end of practice and we had practiced really hard and things escalated there. We stopped it very fast.”

Pittman did not mention exactly who was involved. Usually, offensive and defensive players are the ones to get wrapped up. Maybe some blocking was involved and went just a step too far.

Either way, the moment has passed and all attention can be switched to the spring game. Arkansas is hoping for good support from the fans, showcasing the roster’s capabilities after 15 practices.

Sam Pittman believes Arkansas hit “grand slam” with John Calipari hire

Following head coach Eric Musselman leaving Arkansas for USC, the Razorbacks basketball program went looking for a splash hire to replace him. Now, it seems pretty clear that Arkansas not only got their guy but got one of the biggest names in coaching, reportedly landing Kentucky head coach John Calipari.

It’s a hire that has the Arkansas community excited and even caught the attention of Pittman, who praised the hire as a home run.

“Well, I live in Arkansas, so it’s got to be hard not to [follow the basketball search],” Pittman said on the process. “I believe in Hunter Yurachek. He’ll find the best guy. I guess according to everybody, we found a guy. I don’t know him [Calipari] well, but if he’s a good coach we probably hit a pretty good home run. Maybe hit a grand slam.”
