Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman knows he wants Quincey McAdoo on the field this season. The true freshman receiver has made quite the impression on Pittman in fall camp and continued to stand out Saturday in the second scrimmage of fall camp.

That performance earned some additional praise from Sam Pittman, who said Quincey McAdoo has carved out a role for himself early on. Whether that be on special teams, offense or both remains to be seen, but either way it’s a win for the Razorbacks.

“We don’t plan on keeping him off (the field),” Pittman said Saturday. “It’s just, where do you put him? He’s definitely gonna travel and he’s on special teams now. He’s certainly working his way up the depth chart. I think he’s just a really good freshman.”

Pittman went on to say he is happy with the freshman receiver group as a whole, lobbing additional compliments the way of first-year players Sam Mbake and Isaiah Sategna.

“Matter of fact, I think Mbake, him and Sategna are all three hits,” the coach said. “Part of it is they’re tough. I call ’em ‘short-wire gang,’ all three of ’em cause there’s something a little screwed up (in the head), but I like it.”

The No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas, Sategna comes in as the highest-ranked of the freshman trio at No. 139 overall according to On3 Consensus. Mbake is next at No. 379, while McAdoo taps in at No. 448 as well as No. 5 in the state of Arkansas.

The Razorbacks lose three of their top four pass catchers from last season, including leading receiver Treylon Burks, leaving plenty of opportunity in the wide receiver room this year. Arkansas added a pair of transfers in Jadon Haselwood and Matt Landers, who figure to lead the position alongside Warren Thompson. But with so much production to replace from last year, it could be the perfect time for a freshman star to emerge.

Arkansas is set to kick off the 2022 season on Sept. 3 against No. 23 Cincinnati.
