Arkansas is already dealing with the frustrations that came from the first loss of their season to Texas A&M over the weekend. Now, there’s more bad news out of Fayetteville as Sam Pittman discussed a pair of players who will miss the remainder of the Razorback’s season.

During his press conference on Monday, Pittman was asked about some injuries he may not have officially clarified. He then went on record that both Jalen Catalon and LaDarrius Bishop will be out the rest of the season.

“Well (Catalon) is one of them. And then (LaDarrius),” said Pittman. “(It was) cartilage that we repaired (with Bishop). If you repair it, that goes into a three to four-month (span). That was best for the kid. You obviously can trim cartilage and all that and have a fake knee like I do. If you trim it too much or you don’t have any bone in there, you can elect to repair it. His was intact but it was loose and they were able to sew it back in their repairs. So that’s what we wanted to do for him.”

Arkansas named Catalon a captain before he injured his shoulder in their opener against Cincinnati. His injury has been known about but Pittman reiterated it today. The redshirt junior safety had reconstructive surgery on the injured shoulder and won’t return until 2023.

Bishop’s injury was the one that came as a bit of a surprise. The redshirt senior corner had missed the previous two games for the Hogs with an undisclosed injury. He has since had cartilage worked on in his knee and will also be out until next season.

These are two decent blows to an Arkansas secondary that was already having its problems thus far. Still, Pittman can’t worry about that now with a lot of season left to play. With Catalon and Bishop both okay and having the option to return next season, Arkansas must now turn their attention to their next test with No. 2 Alabama coming to town this weekend.
