The Arkansas Razorbacks and the Texas A&M Aggies have been squaring off for quite some time in the Southwest Classic. The rivalry kicked into high gear when the Aggies joined the SEC back in 2012. Ahead of this year’s matchup in Week 4, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman weighed in on the uniqueness of the atmosphere playing in the game and playing it in the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

“Those games are electric. It’s neat. You don’t normally walk into a stadium and it’s even-steven fans. The hotels have a similar number of occupants from different both teams. It’s really cool,” said Pittman.

“Being in Mr. (Jerry) Jones’ stadium is really neat… When I walked in, I went, holy cow. I mean, that thing is huge and nice… But there’s really something neat about that. It really is where both fans meet in a town.”

Last season the Razorbacks surprised SEC West and most of the college football world when they beat the Aggies 20-10. This year college football is aware of how dangerous this Arkansas team is, and so is Texas A&M. just because they are aware this time around does not mean the Aggies will have an answer for Arkansas’s high-powered offense.

Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson has been a nightmare for opposing defenses. So far this season, he has completed 55 of his 78 pass attempts for 770 yards, with a completion percentage just north of 70 percent. Jefferson has also accounted for nine touchdowns, passing for six and rushing for three. And turnover-wise, he’s been buttoned up all season, turning the ball over just once.

Playing in a neutral side atmosphere, it’s neat. But what would be even neater is for the Razorbacks to continue their dominance to start off this season.

Pittman reveals what Rocket Sanders mean to him, this Arkansas team

Arkansas‘ 38-27 win over Missouri State was probably a little bit closer than the Razorbacks wanted it to be, as they were down three points at halftime. Running back Raheim ‘Rocket’ Sanders had a fumble on the Missouri State one-yard line in the first quarter but bounced back quickly having an amazing game for the Razorbacks. Sanders said his performance didn’t make up for the costly turnover on the goal line, and head coach Sam Pittman spoke about his traits and character as a person and as a player.

“The thing about Rocket is, and it’s true, he’s the first guy, he’s early to study table. All his teachers, we’ve had a few academic staff captains, if he’s in a class they love him. That’s how he is, things bother him, he’s a perfectionist, that’s probably what makes him good,” Pittman said.

Sanders may have been hard on himself after the game for his costly turnover, but he played like he had a short memory during the game. Sanders ended the game as the Razorback’s leading rusher with 22 carries for 167 yards and a touchdown, but his day didn’t stop there.

He also had 2 catches for 75 receiving yards and a touchdown, predominantly from a 73-yard toucdown scamper on a shovel pass from quarterback KJ Jefferson in the fourth quarter to bring Arkansas within three points.
